I’ve been getting a somewhat steady stream of links and pics over the past two weeks, which is heartening. Apparently you enjoy gazing at other people’s bookshelves as much as I do. Be sure to keep those photos and Web links coming in though (remember, it’s cmautnerATcomcastDOTnet).

Today’s top photo comes courtesy of Robyn Bremner, who shares several more photos of her layout, arranged “by publisher (mainly marvel) chronologically according to continuity.”

Elsewhere on the Internet, Johanna Draper Carlson was inspired enough to give a quick tour of her shelf situation:

From the top, that’s the Justice League statue with Starro. (We’re afraid to unbox it — no place to display it.) Then come 2 ½ shelves of DC Archives (most all of them, I think — the yellow-and-red spines are the Spirits), a selection of Showcase volumes, various books on artists, and on the bottom shelves, Absolutes and other oversized hardcovers. The packing box in the front is something we keep meaning to unpack “someday” — I think it’s been there at least two years now. This bookcase faces a 6×8 foot handmade companion, not shown, that contains the “real” books.

Modok!

It’s not comics exactly, but David Gallaher and Valerie D’Orazio do have a pretty spiffy collection of Marvel action figures.

John Jakala tries to make me feel guilty by posting a pic of his cluttered office. Sorry John, no sale. And let’s see some close-up shots of those book spines!

Finally, I wanted to point readers to two awesome shelf porn message board threads that were linked in the comments section of my first post (for some reason the third link kept crashing my browser). I especially like the guy who put his shelves in his closet. Now that’s an inventive use of space.

That’s it? LOL, so cute.

Those shelves are so neat and organized! I have double and triple stacks of books on every shelf, and piles of books and comics on the floor five and six stacks deep (and three feet high)! There’s no chance of organization with all the graphic novels and comics I have! I don’t dare send you a photo – my husband might see it! It’s bad enough he has to live with it, but to think I’d be sharing it in public – oy!

And yes, I have promised him I’ll get rid of some of them – my local library is going to be suddenly very “rich” in graphic novels. I already donate a lot to the school library where I work part time.

My graphic novel collection currently numbers in the tens of thousands of volumes. This doesn’t count the several thousand volumes of prose text books in our house.

Yeah.

Just a warning, the second of the two threads (tcj.com) you linked to becomes NSFW at some point, quite literally living up to the term “shelf porn”.

haha, since this post i have soo much more stuff. I didnt send in any of my action figures, i dunno why! oh wells :D
