$3.99!?

Way to rape the fans there, DC. Will Didio go down in the same Ponzi-esque scheme that Quesada is going to face with Marvel?

I couldve sworn most 48 page comics were 3.99.

Are there going to be two different covers per comic?

It’s 48 pages.

ahaha, Kickback you got PWNED.

I love how”$3.99″ has become the new angry poster buzzword for 2009. : P

I’m looking forward to it.

As far as the $3.99 price point goes… if you are willing to pay to read it, why complain? At the end of the day your purchase of the comic is sending a clear signal to the publisher.

I found it funny when you yanks complain about the comics price. Here in Argentina, a dollar is 3.4 pesos. So every 3.99 comic, so just cover price is like 13.6, if you add the importation taxes, shipping and the comicbook shop profit it end up around 25 pesos.
You can feed a family of 4 with that money. What are you bitching about????

Sorry, I didn’t want to sound complaining (that I did). I can’t buy comics anymore for it being REALLY expensive. I wish I could buy them so cheaply, and you complain. I just wanted to give you some perspective.

You want funny? In México, each four dollar comic costs us 60, 000 pesos! And with that amount of money, you can fed a family of 4 AND their dog. Just kidding.

and thier dog, mofo !!! lol, good one. Here in Nicaragua its ridiculous, its like 164 cordobas which is like 8.20 sent for ONE COMIC….welcome to wonderland nicaragua.

You should feed that family of four WITH their dog. Then buy comics!

I’m waiting for all of this nonsense to get collected in a GN or TPB, then I’ll buy it discounted from Con. I’m patient and that’s just the affordable way to go.

Wow, those pages look great. I’ve been passing on the whole “death of Batman” thing, but this looks like something i need to pick up.

@Kickback

It’s only rape if they force you to buy it, otherwise it’s consensual

Now that’s how I like to see Selina, and my jaw hit the floor when I saw the name “Joe Chill” – great line, too. I think this is going to be great.

It doesn’t matter if it’s Argentina, Nicaragua, Canada, or Swaziland. $3.99 is too much if this were a 32 page (22 of story.) I’m not ticked if it’s a 48 pager, but a standard length…if they rais eprices in a bad market, imagine what they’ll do when things get good again…

The owner of my shop says that $3.99 won’t last as many are dropping their $3.99 marvel titles, and DC looks like they’re going to let Marvel fall on their sword here before they join in any price raising where the model doesn’t support it ponzi.

I get the feeling that a couple of people here actually don’t know what a ponzi scheme is…

I don’t think any of them know what a Ponzi scheme is.

also Diamond is playing a role in this price hike with that new order minimum they have going.
My friend has been complaining about it since I showed him the story last month. He already has four Publishers who’s books he has buyers for.

I stopped getting comics because of the cost. I still buy Ellis and Mignola books but they are starting to get crazy with how many they are putting out.

Well ever since comics went up to 2.99 I stopped buying on a regular basis. I only picked stuff up once a month or every 2 months. Then I would just look online for cheap prices on back issues. Now that it’s at 3.99 I’m applying the same method, except I might only stop by a comic shop maybe twice a year to pick up some comics. And I’ll be looking for back issues and tpb’s online, giving my money to the site that can give me the most bang for my buck. And I’m sorry to hear of the plight that many of you in other countries have to deal with.

See now, I will pay 3.99 for a Batman event comic such as Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader. However, I wouldn’t pay 3.99 for a standard 22 page monthly like Ghost Rider or Birds of Prey. I just think that the publishers need to be very careful about which comics get the 3.99 tag.

Also, I despise buying things that end in .99 anyway. Just make it 4 bucks even, and then I can easily calculate my total purchase plus sales tax in my head, instead of worrying about those missing pennies! I know there is some kind of theory that consumers buy more when they see .99 instead of .00, but not me. :)
