He sold more shirts than I did books... and he did a panel on this with Randall Munroe (xkcd) and other web cartoonists as they talked about making money doing a web comic - merch, merch, merch... There was a general sense of amusement with the "old guard" who still don't "get it", esp. as all the panelists were making a living with their work...
