Send us your shelf porn!

As I mentioned earlier today, Chris is taking some time off this week, so I'm filling in for him on his weekly Shelf Porn post.

To recap: We want to see what your comic collection looks like. Send photos of your shelves and long boxes to Chris at cmautnerATcomcastDOTnet and we’ll post it here every week for everyone to check out. I know Chris has a decent backlog to feature in the coming weeks, so please be patient ... we'll get to them all eventually.

This week's shelves were sent in by Sean T. Collins, who writes for various comics websites and blogs at Attentiondeficitdisorderly Too Flat. He also has a webcomic up at the Top Shelf site.

Without further ado, let's check out Sean's stuff ...

The Northwest corner of the Rumpus Room. Comics flank two shelves of prose stuff, one for The Missus and one for me. Of note near the top of the two right-hand shelves: A signed, framed portrait of Clive Barker (just above the shelf filled with Clive Barker and J.R.R. Tolkien books) and The Missus's Hobbit action figures (above the Bendis comics). Also of note: the gigantic copy of Kramers Ergot 7 I can't fit anywhere else, propped up against the bookshelf on the left.

The "favorites" bookshelf. This is the one you can see from the couch in the living room.

This row is mostly for mutual favorites of me and The Missus's, like Jeffrey Brown, Jordan Crane, Phoebe Gloeckner, Anders Nilsen, Craig Thompson, and, uh, me. Also featured: Daniel Clowes and Josh Cotter. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me photo included as a bonus. "This would look good on your wall."

Frank Miller, Chris Ware, a selection of favorite hardcovers, Grant Morrison, Mike Mignola, and a terrific little drawing of the Creature from the Black Lagoon I won in a contest on Tom Neely's website a few years ago.

Alan Moore, Jack Kirby, Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez, Paul Pope, Kramers Ergot, and some random oversized faves.

These are mostly superhero comics and comics from mostly-superhero publishers, but I stuck MOME in there too as you can see.

The superhero-y stuff begins, kicked off by three of my favorite such writers: Brian Michael Bendis, Ed Brubaker and Robert Kirkman. Then you've got my runs of MOME and Twisted ToyFare Theater. I imagine MOME doesn't get sandwiched between The Walking Dead and TTT in too many collections.

Superhero-y books. I'm trying to get them arranged by author/title/franchise, whichever makes sense. I can't wait till I have a nice fat run of Geoff Johns Green Lantern and Action Comics books in there, that's for sure.

Superhero-y books on the top, giant hardcovers to keep the bookshelf from tipping over on the bottom. This is sort of my anthology shelf, down there.

Miscellaneous alt and indie comics, plus as-yet-unread/unsorted review copies. Up top there's some prose books by Kurt Vonnegut, Stephen King, and Lloyd Alexander, plus a picture of my wife's family dogs.

Review copies up top, starting with the giant Marvel Chronicle. Random altcomix on the bottom.

Miscellaneous alternative comics. I need to sort these things better--basically, right now I'm just trying to get books by the same author next to each other if I pass by and have a second or two to fiddle with them. Note all the Jason books in the lower right corner.

The manga/stuff that's formatted like manga shelf. My Complete Peanuts books got cut off in this picture for some reason, but they're up top. And oh yeah, that's my back-up drive.

More manga. I think the only one of these I've actually finished reading is Death Note.

Surely there's a message to be found in the fact that I keep all my minis and floppies in the closet.

I wrote an article on Robert's paintings of action figures for Geek, and got him into ToyFare as well. He sent me this print from a limited run of 200 as a thank you. Serpentor overlooks the Rumpus Room, as is his royal right.

Created for the Abercrombie & Fitch Quarterly and gifted to me as a birthday present for the Missus by Jordan himself, bless him. This is actually found in the Music Room.

"Who touched me?" The first page of Blankets ever given away to anyone for any reason. Craig drew a portrait of the Missus on the back with a nice note and his journal entry for the day it was created. This too is located in the Music Room.
