Thanks for the answer. I’m sorry but I haven’t been following the Simone run on WW (I understand it is well-received), so I didn’t realize the relationship between Nemesis and Diana had become that tight.

Steve was written out of the romantic picture by the 1986 revamp. It made him middle-aged, which in relation to Diana being in her early twenties, made him too old for her. In fact, the revamp made his mother Diana Trevor a pivotal behind-the-scenes figure in Wonder Woman’s origin (basically, her name and costume came from Diana T.’s uniform). Thus, Steve and Diana were more like siblings. Fairly early in the series, Steve and Etta Candy fell in love, but lately Etta has gotten more attention.

I don’t know that I would call Nemesis the flavor of the month, since he’s been around for most of the vol. 3 series (i.e., since 2006) and he and Diana are the Amazon equivalent of engaged. So he’s pretty important to her, or at least Gail Simone has set him up to be.

You mentioned Barbara Gordon. I may have missed it, but why not Steve Trevor for Wonder Woman? Or is Nemesis the flavour of the month? Not being rude, just, Steve has more history, you know?
