In the second story, Krona says the Void Hound originated from "the antimatter universe of Qward," which I believe is a misnomer, as Qward is just one planet within the antimatter universe. it might be a nitpick, but it's the second time the phrase has popped up in the series, I believe.

Sounds like we’re both saying the same thing, here.

I agree. It's been a while since I've read "Syndicate Rules" (and I've been cleaning up, so the comics themselves have been put in another stack) and I simply didn't remember those details about the Void Hound.

Void Hound as a reflection of the Construct, like Ultraman and Superman, as opposed to a similar being, like Ultraman and Flash.

Tom --

I'm not sure what the difference between "Qwardian version of" and "similar" is. The Void Hound is the sentient consciousness created when the electronic communications web of Qward got complex enough to become sentient. The Construct is the sentient consciousness created when Earth's web-o-radio-waves-an'-stuff did. Sounds like we're both saying the same thing, here.

Ian - yes, when Old Krona say "Let Me Out!" he's at the same point as he is in #1.

"Actually, what you call 'Old Krona' is present-day Krona. He’s communing with Past-Krona, back when he was the god of the Otherworld, before he got out in #18."

So, to clarify, when Past-Krona bellows "Let me out!" this issue, that's not a reprise; that's the moment seen in issue 1, and elsewhere, that set the whole story into motion. Yes?

"Scott McDaniel kicked some serious ass on the storytelling; he made it work really well."

I thought it was McDaniel's strongest issue to date. That first image of Now-Krona in the lotus position... intimidating.

Huh. I never got that the Void Hound was the Qwardian version of the Construct. I just thought they were similar electronic beings. There goes one theory about the endgame....

>> I’m a little ashamed to just be thinking of this now; but in a weird way, Trinity has pulled at least a little truth out of those “Batman will become a New God” rumors from a year or so ago. True, Batman hasn’t become a capital-N new god, but the god he’s become is certainly new to the rest of us….
>> Too much of a stretch? Yeah, probably.>>

Yeah, when I realized we were actually turning Batman into a god -- no connection to those rumors -- it was just one of those, "You have to laugh," moments.

>> I presume that it, like the Trinitarians’ changed forms, is a product of their return to Earth. Surely they didn’t think of themselves as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman while they were the gods of the Genesis Planet?>>

No, back there they thought of themselves as Kellel, Dinanna and Atmahn.

>> I’ll take Old Krona at his word, such that we’re seeing the Kronas in a timeless dimension where Old Krona is speaking from a perspective eons past Young Krona’s. That’s kind of cool, since it implies that Old Krona not only survives the end of Trinity in his present form, but that he’s moved past the “petulance” of his younger, trouble-making self.>>

Actually, what you call "Old Krona" is present-day Krona. He's communing with Past-Krona, back when he was the god of the Otherworld, before he got out in #18. So you don't know what happens to Krona in the future; this is his current self trying to get his past self to learn that he had it good, where he was, if he'd only have some patience.

>> So, should we be wondering where Old Krona sent Young Krona? (Certainly not to Anthro’s cave.) >>

He didn't send him anywhere. The cross-time contact was broken, that's all.

>> “A planetary mind”: actually, if I understand correctly, it’s the old JLA villain the Construct, trapped in GL’s power ring, who is the planetary mind.>>

The Construct is not in J'onn's power ring. He absorbed the Void Hound (the Qwardian version of the Construct) into his ring, but the Construct itself is living on the electronic plane, having fragmented into lots of sub-selves and building a civilization.

>> I never thought I’d enjoy Krona arguing with himself as much as I did.>>
