Tom: As I thought I remembered. Of course, Geoff Johns put Pieter Cross' edition of Portsmouth in Oregon later on in JSA proper, if memory serves....?

Maybe not an "event", but certainly a graphic novel. I like projects of this scale and scope, when they're well done. Kurt Busiek's usually good for that, and he hasn't let me down here.

..

As I suspected. Only five people DO CARE about this book.

I forgot it was still being published.

So much for an "event".

It should be called: "What If They Had A Crisis and Nobody Came''?

Not too far at all, from what I remember. It's basically between Newport News (home of Donna Troy's adoptive parents) and Norfolk, and they're all off I-64.

Related funny thing about DCU geography: I used to think that the Pieter Cross version of Dr. Mid-Nite lived in the real east-coast Portsmouth...not too far from Norfolk, I think...?

I'm kidding a little about the location of Metropolis. I used to live relatively close to Norfolk, so maybe that had something to do with it.

YLu, I think you're right -- but in my defense, the "William" made him sound more highfalutin than normal.

'– “Society scientist William Magnus”: this must be part of the altered timeline, because I don’t recall Doc Magnus being quite so well-socialized.'

In case you're not joking, I think they mean Justice Society scientist.

I thought the transition from last issue to the beginning of this one was weird, too. For a while, I suspected reality had somehow been bifurcated by the presence of all the cosmic stuff, creating one reality where the Troika attacked (last issue) and one where Enigma got his way and they retreated (this issue).

There was that Amazing World of DC Comics article by Mark Gruenwald theorizing Metropolis to be in Delaware once upon a time, but there's too much published evidence in other DC titles published since then argues for either Rhode Island or New York State.

We could chalk this depiction up to the meddling of Morgaine le Fay's trinity...
