Everyone get their San Diego Comic Con hotel room this morning?
At one point this morning, I had a hotel room -- a double at the Westin Gaslamp. I entered my credit card information, then checked the little boxes saying I was ok with the cancellation policy. Then I waited for about 15 minutes while it tried to confirm my reservation, then I received a screen telling me there was some sort of data error and my reservation was NOT saved.
Now I'm in line again, I guess, as the above screen keeps loading and reloading. Maybe this is a good year to simply take a hiatus from the con.
Update: 10:52 a.m. Pacific, and I was finally able to get back in. And I was able to pull up the chart that shows what's still available, which is very slim indeed. If you were planning on getting something within walking distance of the convention center, forget it.

Some sort of counter once you're in that queue would be an excellent addition -- one that updates so you know whether you're making any progress.

Or maybe even a company with a website and phone line that can handle the crush.
I thought that they were supposed to have learned from last year's crush, which was supposed to have been upgraded from 2007's crush.

I got through on the phone after about 30 minutes. The man at the other end said he wasn't an agent but would take my information and my top four hotel choices and someone would enter it in the system then send me an email this afternoon.
It's about 1 PM, and no email. Sigh.

I had the same exact problem making my reso - but I printed the "crash" page and managed to get back in there. I think I got one of the last rooms at The Hotel of My Choice, luckily. There are still rooms at the Hilton and the Grant and even the Marriott, but they're all 200+ dollars more than the comic con rate.

I never managed to get in online this morning, but I got through by phone after 1 hour and 20 minutes of redialing. Left my top hotel choices, name and contact info. Finally got the email confirmation at about 2:30 pacific time. Got my 3rd choice hotel, so not terribly disappointed.
(They also got my name backwards and address incomplete, and by the time I called in to fix it, their call center had gone home for the day. Or, more likely, out to a bar to celebrate surviving the annual Comic-Con crush.)
