See, to me, this looks like a well-written and brilliantly drawn book by Mark Waid, who does FANTASTIC comics. You might not like the pitch, but if it's written well, then maybe it'll overcome your distaste. Worth a look, surely.
Don't know if it'll be good, but having read a lot of Waid's stuff, I'm definitely picking up issue 1.

And I love this "Oh, it's all been done before." This may be true, although I can see some unexplored territory in this concept (after all, "Superman goes evil" stories tend to revolve around the consequences and the shiny red rock that causes it, rather than a complex moral dichotomy). But even then, stories about Heroes saving people and charming attractive women were done to death before the existence of comics. Didn't seem to impact DC's sales.

Ive read the preview and I agree while I think the artwork is first-rate but it just struck a sour-note with me. If I want to see or hear about the kind of stuff that happens in that preview I can read the newspaper or turn on the news. I was somewhat intrigued initially because I do like Mark Waid's writing. But I'm going to give this one a pass.

DrunkJack, so you have read the book, heh? And in the world where Dark Avengers, Incognito and Kick Ass are the best selling books, you are saying people do not want "dark" super hero comics?

I HAVE read the first issue completely, and could not disagree more.

Glad to see Krause back.

Wish it wasn't on a book like this. Waid has lost the plot, he seems to think this is 1994 where something like this would seem innovative and new.

It doesn't. It seems hackneyed, tired and most of all, TONE DEAF.

Look around, watch the news, Waid. No one needs a downer super hero comic.

The book is great. Read the first issue last week and did a review of it in our store blog at:

Looking forward to FCBD, where Mark Waid is our headliner for the HERO INITIATIVE BENEFIT we are throwing. For more details, visit our site: http://ComicsAndCards.net

This book looks so good. At first I wanted to wait until trade but the more I see, the more I don't think I'll be able to wait!

i am thrilled to hear about Mr. Krause coming back to comics. I've been a big fan of his for a long time, and I still remember my days hosting the old DC Chats on AOL. Especially the POS chat that he and Mike Carlin took the time to come to quite frequently.

I'm looking forward to this book a lot!
