Are we ready for Steve Rogers to be Reborn?

"July"

"July"

Ed Brubaker and Bryan Hitch collaborating on a hush-hush Marvel miniseries called Reborn? With John Cassaday and Alex Ross providing additional covers? It’s probably nothing, right?

The listing for the five-issue miniseries, which leads Marvel’s solicitations for July, is light on details — “Solicit to be revealed soon” — but the obvious bet is it has something everything to do with the somber teaser (at right) the publisher has been running for a while.

The comics event we all knew was eventually going to happen appears to be occurring sooner rather than later: the return of Steve Rogers, who’s been out of play since his highly publicized death in April 2007 (if you don’t count flashbacks, Avengers/Invaders and a ghost).

Or it could be a feint propped up by the lack of information in the solicitation for Captain America #601.

As ZeroVGM says in the Comic Book Resources forums, “Why would Cap’s own book have some random one off issue with Bucky and Fury talking about an old Cap adventure, while Bru is bringing Steve back in a miniseries? Wouldn’t he do that in the actual Cap book, like he did when he killed him off?”

All I knew is there better be a prominent role for Bucky Barnes when everything’s said and done.

I thought the good part about CA #601 was Gene Colan art.

Cheers,

There was a female Bucky drawing floating around a week or two ago, now the new mini is called “Reborn”. Kinda makes me think they are revisiting the Heroes Reborn universe where maybe Steve Rogers returns.

Maybe the Heroes Reborn universe is the 616 heaven, where super heroes keep on the good fight in the afterlife.

Wouldn’t that make Heaven one of the many counter-Earths that exist in 616 now? And wasn’t there a theory that the Marvel Adventures universe was Heaven, because everything was simpler and nothing bad ever happened?

And is it going to be Dick Grayson or Tim Drake?!?! AHAHHHHAHAHAH!

Neither. It’s Clayface.

Keep Steve out for the time being, we all know he’ll be back but Barnes hasn’t had the reigns for long enough. He’s been great in Captain America and it’s been good to see him in the Avengers.

i love bucky as cap. i hope bru is just getting started with him.

I’ll go wherever Brubaker wants to go. I’m fine with the back seat. I don’t wanna see the map; I don’t wanna look ahead. Just drive, baby.

I’m with Uzumeri. As long as the series is good I’m not gonna complain.

Bucky Barnes HAD a prominent role. He was the one of the last remaining defenders of death having even the slightest significance in the Marvel Universe, right there alongside Captain Marvel.

But NOOOOOOOOOO.

(And before anyone starts repeating the “but it’s great” comments which I can already read just fine, thanks, please understand that I’m glad you’re happy but this is always going to remain a colossally bad idea, IMO.)

Mar-Vell’s still dead, dude. Very, very, very dead, and likely not coming back.

Fortunately, the writers didn’t think like this, and we weren’t cheated out of a great story just so “death can mean something” in a universe where there are gods, magicians, and super-science.

I belief this is a chance to bring back either Dick Grayson or Todd Henry . I think this could be a very interesting book or movie when the transcript is done!! Jason Todd might even be invloved in one way or another. I hear they are filming this too in Technicolor in the ALPS…the Return of Drick Grayson boy Wonder Captain of America!! Should be a good one boss …no?

Has anyone heard if the Red Skull will be included in a remake of Nightmare on Elm Street 17?? I heard it was coming and filmed in a Nebraska cornfield.
