More layoffs at Wizard [Update]
I’ve been hearing rumors today about additional people being let go from Wizard, and at least one of them has been confirmed on Twitter: Brett White, who was the news editor for Wizard’s website, says he was “was laid off and can smell the citrusy smell of Price is Right scented freedom!”
White joins a long list of Wizard alumni who have been let go by the company over the past two years. Most recently in February, CBR reported that seven people were laid off.
Update, 10:20 a.m. April 9: According to several sources, Ed DuPré, Wizard’s longtime chief financial officer, is also no longer with the company.

guess we know where the money wizard just pointed up to buy a comic con is coming from though how long before wizard goes to the store in the sky

Looks like Wizard is on the move, they fired stale employees and have hired so many new people, I don’t get the negativity…

We are a group of fans that are staging a Funeral for what is known as Wizard World Philadelphia. The majority of us have been going for most of the years the con has been open. It has gotten to the point where Convention Coordinators who once asked us for feedback and what we would enjoy at WWP have been let go and new ones just don’t care. It is like the captain going down with the ship. Now with the new acquisition of Big Apple Con and it being in New York, we are to believe they wouldn’t want to use the time or the resource to stage two cons merely two hours apart.
WWP has gone in a direction when had never thought possible, where the media/wrestling/comedy guests have began to out number the comic guests. We would all love to have continued to go to WWP but with the way the management is running it, there is no reason to dish out our hard earned money. Even if they announce a WWP 2010, without a major overhaul, the majority of us will not be attending.

No Wizard has been firing all the wrong people. The people who care about the con and asked for our opinions. We aren’t complaining about passed Wizard World’s except maybe last year it was a little lackluster. But recently the guys who have been trying to get people for us and been trying to work with us they have fired and now they bring in some new guy to take the ship down with him. Who is such a total douche that goes as far as taking personal vendettas out because he believes he is the best con organizer ever.
