I disagree with ^. I think, maybe, the comic book series could succeed – if they get a good artist, an artist who can really capture the magic of the show.

Of course, nothing can really replace the show itself (the music! the dialogue! Olive’s singing! Ned’s cute expressions!) but I don’t think the comic book series is going to be a real flop if the writing is good (and it will probably be, since it’s Fuller, who will know exactly how to write the show) and the artist is good (hopefully not the artist for the promo comics, which were awfully dark and gloomy-looking and had ugly lines).

I’m a total comic book geek as well as being a fan of Pushing Daisies, so I guess I am quite biased but I would encourage y’all not to discount the potential of the comic book medium. It is, in its own way, as much a magical storytelling medium as film and TV. I’m looking forward to the comic books’ release. (((:

Hmmm…. As much as I loved the show and miss it already, “Chuck, Ned, Emerson and Olive versus 1,000 corpses” seems to not exactly be in the same spirit.

But I liked the precious British-accented narration or the cutsie-pie music, it was part of the charm of it. It will be interesting to see how it translates, the dialog & acting did make the show. I’m already leery about the 1000 zombies, just because a comic gives you an unlimited effects budget doesn’t mean you have to use it all. But I am in for all 12 issues.

And Yes, kick the Hater. He can use the extra time to learn the difference between Rude & Stupid and Clever & Relevant.

Warner Brothers Entertainment knows how many copies of the DVD have sold. I suspect they know how many and what type of hits the ABC website got, especially on the promo SDCC comic and the photoshopped episode recaps.

WBE/DC/Wildstorm has a lot of expertise in licensed properties… Gears of War, Heroes, Warcraft…

Licensed properties, even limited series, are very successful in comics, as the web connects fans with the publishers, and librarians stock titles which appeal to patrons.

As a nominal fan (own the DVD and the comic), I look forward to this title. I hope it will be more of a hybrid, containing comics, recipes, history/commentary, just like the website. I also hope that the advertising is not all WBE.

Yes, put me down for a movie!! Like what he did with Dead Like Me (if you haven’t seen this yet – I highly recommend!!)
That being said, till we get a movie, I will be picking this up for sure!! I just hope that fuller is writing it. And if it is going to be 12 issue, I think 3, 4 part stories would be good (or shorter!) Please DONT do one major 12 part story!! I just want it to have the same wit as the tv series. Olive always has some great one liners.

As a TV veteran, Fuller is used to networks competing for shows and shopping for best terms. Pure speculation on my part, but maybe DC/Wildstorm was not willing to commit to 12, so Fuller let it be known Marvel was willing to work with him regarding the back nine episodes and suddenly DC is willing to commit to 12 issues.

Or maybe on a much simpler level, the initial Sci-Fi Wire quoted Fuller: “We are currently negotiating with Warner Brothers to get the comic-book rights.” The negotiations might have boiled down to “You get the rights if a DC imprint is the publisher.”

I thought it was weird that supposedly Marvel was going to publish a comic based on a show that’s made by Warner Brothers TV. I wonder if Warner Brothers pushed for the comic to stay in the corporate family.

I hope Fuller can put the Preview comic for the series he did in the regular series so everyone can get it that way rather than put in the eventual trade potentially causing people to do the hated double dip.
