I’ve only been to one Big Apple Con, but it wasn’t what I’d call an amazing experience. Perhaps it will become something a bit more on par with Wizard’s other shows, but Reed’s NY Comic Con is just such a class act that I can’t imagine it being a real competition.

Yeah, I know, I just figured that’s the date they’re planning to use for the future. They probably feel like they’re getting a jump on that time of year, sliding in before NYCC takes hold of October.

Jill: Actually, there will be no competing cons in 2009 — the next NYCC is in 2010. I would hope the Wizard guys are planning for a different month in 2010.

For a company that has had a string of shady deals going back many years this is something I will steer clear from.

I have to believe Shamus will have to back down, and not try and compete with the NYCC. Or watch this enterprise wither and die as well.
