Earlier this week DC teased fans with an image of Batgirl on their Source blog, leaving fans wondering who was behind the mask and who drew the image. Now they've revealed the answer to one of those questions -- the image was done by Phil Noto.

(If we'd been taking bets, it looks like Brandon Perlow would be the winner).

They also gave the lowdown on the Batgirl creative team. Smallville writer Bryan Q. Miller, who is also writing a Teen Titans storyline that starts in July, is writing Batgirl. He wrote the "Hex" episode of Smallville that featured Zatanna earlier this season. Lee Garbett and Trevor Scot are the art team.

Wow. That doesn't look like any Phil Noto drawing I've ever seen.

The mouth is a Greg Land swipe from Batman and Rubbin.

Bryan "the butcher" Q Miller is writing Batgirl? Not good news. His Smallville episodes were huge disconnects from the show's continuity. Be prepared for gloss and no substance.

Generic and purposelessly angry fanboy comment! Grr!

I thought it was kind of an odd one, too, based on some of the reactions I found online to Miller's work on Smallville while looking around for what he had worked on before. This thread on Kryptonsite:

in particular seems to be filled with fans really happy with his work.

But as they (and Melissa) say, Your Mileage May Vary.

If Garbett's drawing this, then who's doing Outsiders?
