I bought this when it originally came out and loved it. No, it’s not the best non-fiction, memoir-y, social commentary work out there, but I felt it was tremendously heartfelt and moving. After reading it, maybe people can understand more why Winick seems to shoehorn either HIV or sexuality issues in all his mainstream work. I know many people want to villify him for that, but this is his passion now and I don’t fault him for it, even if some of the instances seemed extremely forced.

Thanks for the review, even if you didn’t love it, as I am now motivated to pull it out again and see how it holds up.

Loved Pedro & Me. I didn’t feel that Judd overdid it with the narration, but different strokes…

It doesn’t really say “Friendship, Loss & What I Learned” on the cover. You did that in photoshop. I don’t believe that for a second.

The title of the book is Pedro and ME. I don’t remember there being any indication the book would entirely about Pedro.

I still think Barry Ween was Winick’s best work.
