This book is going to be awesome. I can’t stop staring at the Paul Pope cover and I’m hoping the interiors have the same effect on me as well.

Good move Marvel! ( for once).
This book looks great and maybe some Marvel zombies (pardon the pun) will get into some of the indie guys / girls from this.
I have found as you get older and really start to love the art form of comics, you can’t help getting into the indie stuff both old and new.
I can see how people at first would not be into these guys and or their styles, in my younger years, I would not of liked someone like Paul Pope or Jason.
Then again I liked Liefield when I was 14, so things change, sometimes for the better.

BTW.. Jason’s Spider-Man makes me wish for a Spider-Ham issue done by my favorite Norwegian cartoonist.

I was just happy about Bagge’s “Hulk” finally getting out there, but this is a real gem with Pope, Jason, Kochalka, and the rest of these folks in the mix. I don’t understand why they’d solicit this monthly though as it pretty much IS the direct equivalent of DC’s “Bizarro” anthologies… But hey, at least they’re giving fans more content for that 3.99 price tag… I tell you what’d be interesting to try with this book given the whole “Pure Comics Fan” (in which case, superheroes are read, but aren’t the only game in town and are strongly read by preference of creator) vs “Marvel Drone” (you can’t even call them Marvel Zombies anymore…Ugh…) dynamic this brings to mind. Put a “Dark Reign” logo on the cover and see what happens sales-wise. I can almost guarantee some of these drones would buy every issue, but complain every step of the way just like they did with Milligan & Allred’s “X-Force/Statix” (Seriously, they were getting hatemail 2 years after the fact!) run… To conclude though, this is an absolute dream cme true for all of us “Pure Comics Fans” and of course, for Bill Jemas (He’s smiling somewhere).

It’s less of a response to Wednesday Comics than it is to Bizzaro Comics. That first book was great, and I hope this is too, though sometimes the indys can be a little too cute for their own good. I’m not a “wait for trade” kind of reader, but I do think I’d prefer this as one.

This actually sounds like a cool concept and something Marvel should do more often; Ultimate Marvel Team-Up and Spider-Man’s Tangled Web almost got it right. But it’s a bit much for me to get all three issues blindly. I’ll trade wait for this one and hope Marvel doesn’t take it personally.

I really have absolutely no idea who they are making this comic for…. other than ME! and really, that’s good enough for me. I think this one sounds awesome, and the fact that it gives me something to look forward to around the time Wednesday Comics (another book I am very much looking forward to) will be ending is just a nice little bonus. It does of course remind me of Bizarro Comics, as well as the underground Coober Skeeber Marvel benefit book, but that’s also fine with me because I loved those as well.

Holy crap…the Incorrigible Hulk. They’re actually going to publish it.

And this can’t really be said to be Marvel’s answer to Wednesday Comics since this was first announced ages ago, well before WC. And the sentiment is different; this harkens to the indy comics while WC draws from newspaper comic strips.

@Mark Kardwell: It seems like this is Marvel’s answer to Wednesday Comics. I agree that both of these are most likely terrible ideas in terms of sales, but shhh, let’s not clue them into that fact. But really, who knows? Maybe projects like these will begin to inch popular tastes to something more artistically palatable.

Uh, I am a Marvel reader and I can’t wait for this. True, not all Marvel fans read independent work but to say all is a gross overstatement. Jason’s Spider-Man, Peter Bagge’s The Incorrigible Hulk…this can’t arrive soon enough.

Uh, I think everyone will love it EXCEPT Marvel readers. Can’t see many people with X-FORCE on their pull-list digging this. But the fact it’s coming out through Max gives me a modicum of hope that a creator like Johnny Ryan can do his thing without pulling any punches.

Intriguing, though not enough to make me buy it off the rack. Love the Pope cover though. Will probably pick it up in the bargain bins or at a half price sale in the future.
