So his parents aren't Jonathan and Martha, any more than he's Kal-El of Krypton; to him, Jonathan and Martha Kent and Lois Lane are fictional characters. kdb

MAJOR SPOILER for the very end of Trinity.... 3 2 1 The first third/act/trade paperback ends with the Trinitarians as the gods of another planet. This planet turns out to be an alternate Earth, although the inhabitants have been altered by Krona experimenting on them. In the closing pages of the last issue, we learn that the Trinitarians used the last of their "god-power" to rewrite that world's history so that it is another DC-Earth, with a Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Dialogue accompanying this says it's time to "make this Earth one at last" -- with emphasis on the "Earth one." I discussed this in a little more detail in my notes for issue #52, which you should be able to find behind the "Trinity annotations" link in the sidebar; but yes -- DC was very coy about the new Earth-1. Also, if memory serves, this new Earth wasn't created along with the rest of the 52, but came out of the Creation Egg from JLA/Avengers.

I didn'tread Trinity to the end, could anyone fill me in on what Earth-1 is exactly?

Because I find it really interesting that since the 52 multiverse was created how coy DC has been about what Earth-1 is (since the main DCU is Earth-0) and apparently they've made up their minds about it.

I would still like to know where in canon does this fit in? I mean, continuity-wise, where is it? It must come prior to Batman R.I.P./ Final Crisis, but immediately so or where?

Yes, we wouldn't want a weekly comic series contradicting Final Crisis. All right, all right, totally knee-jerk thing to do, go straight for the cheap shot at editorial. So I'll add something constructive: I enjoyed Trinity, and I enjoyed checking in on the weekly annotations, which I'd always check for comments from Kurt. His accessibility and readiness to talk about what he was doing were almost as much fun as the book itself. Looking forward to whatever he does next in the DCU -- though I have to admit I'm not looking forward to it quite as much as Astro City. Great to see Book Three up and running!
