- Posted on July 24, 2009 - 12:08 PM by Kevin Melrose
Marvel has announced an all-star voice cast for the Marvel Super Hero Squad animated series, which premieres in September on Cartoon Network.
The 26-episode all-ages cartoon stars Tom Kenny (aka Spongebob) as Iron Man, Captain America and M.O.D.O.K., Grey DeLisle (Fairly Oddparents) as Ms. Marvel and the Enchantress, Alimi Ballard (NUMB3RS) as the Falcon, and Charlie Adler (Cow & Chicken, Transformers 1 & 2) as Dr. Doom.
In addition, guest voices will include:
• Shawn Ashmore (X-Men films) as Iceman
• LeVar Burton (Star Trek: The Next Generation) as Rhodey
• Taye Diggs (Private Practice) as the Black Panther
• Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street) as Dormammu
• Greg Grunberg (Heroes) as Ant-Man
• Mark Hamill (Star Wars) as the Red Skull
• Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) as Sif
• Wayne Knight (Seinfeld) as Egghead
• James Marsters (Smallville, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Mr. Fantastic
• Adrian Pasdar (Heroes) as Hawkeye
• Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) as Ka-Zar
• George Takei (Heroes, Star Trek) as Galactus
• Michelle Trachtenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gossip Girl) as the Valkyrie.
Stan Lee also will appear in the recurring role as the mayor of Super Hero City. Heck, I'll watch it just for Wayne Knight as Egghead and George Takei as Galactus.
More details will be announced tomorrow at Comic-Con during the 10 a.m. panel.

While I have no interest in this cartoon at all (Yeah, I realize I'm not the target audience) I think Takei as Galactus is an inspired choice.
All these Heroes actors involved though... Are they going to finally put that show out of its misery?

Oh, and even if I were going to watch no way I could take Spongebob/The Mayor (from Powerpuff Girls) seriously as Iron Man or Captain America.
Good to see Cartoon Network actually deciding to show some actual cartoons though... Half the time when I go past that channel they're not showing cartoons.

This is hopefully EXACTLY what little kids will enjoy watching, and I'm sure there will be enough fanboy & fangirl moments to satisfy those of us curious enough to check it out. As has been mentioned, there's no way I'm missing George Takei's Galactus voice. I can only imagine the awesomeness, kiddie or not.
As far as taking Tom Kenny seriously as Cap & Iron Man, give it a chance...the guy is an extremely talented voice actor. He also did Fry, Prof. Farnsworth, Dr. Zoidberg, and a dozen other voices for "Futurama", while at the same time doing "Spongebob" and however many other shows...

Wait, Cartoon Network?
Brave and the Bold is still going to be on, right? RIGHT?

Also, @BMBG-you're thinking of Billy West.
