Send Us Your Shelf Porn!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to another edition of "Send Us Your Shelf Porn." This week we're pleased as punch (and that's pretty pleased) to be presenting the collection of one Mr. Michael Naugle. Michael's quite the Green Lantern fan, as you might gather from the photo below, and he's eager to give everyone the guided tour. So let's get started, mmmkay?

I'm a 32 year old packaging salesman, are married with three kids ... a set of 1-year-old twins and a 4 1/2 year old. I have been collecting comics for about 20 years, and comic art for about 10! As you can see, Green Lantern is my absolute favorite, and I cannot wait for the film! Here is a rundown of what's going on in each picture:

My "Holy Grail" pieces: the covers to Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn #1 and Green Lantern: Rebirth #1. Emerald Dawn is what got me into comics many years ago, and when I had M.D. Bright do me a commission many years ago (the commission is on the top right), I begged if he would sell it to me. He finally did and I about fell out of my chair! He had it sitting in his closet for 10 years! The Rebirth piece: I purchased it when I heard it was announced, and had no idea if it would be any good, or who the hell "Ethan Van Sciver" was. Got lucky that it didn't suck! And I'm a big Blu-Ray/ DVD fan, hence the movies. The last piece at the bottom is a wedding gift from Darick Robertson ... it's a page from Transmetropolitan, and it even has a bar in one of the panels called "Naugle"! Thanks, Darick!

I think next to Green Lantern, my favorite series was Hitman by Garth Ennis and John McCrea. And it even won an Eisner, and the cover of that issue is one I found on eBay of all places! And of course who doesn't love Steve Dillon and The Punisher?

MichaelNaugleshelfporn

Just part of my HC/TPB collection. I'm addicted to the oversized books. Love 'em. I own every Absolute Edition DC has put out. It's like crack, but better.

MichaelNaugleshelfporn

My oldest son Aaron and his favorite chair in my office. Surrounded by comics. I can't wait to share with him when he get's older, if he is interested!

MichaelNaugleshelfporn

One day I will build a bookcase for all of these. Most of my books I get from Half-Price Books or other used places ... so it may look like I have a lot, but most are bought very cheap.

The cover to Green Lantern #5. Issues #1-8 have a warm place in my heart growing up. I loved that story by Jones and Broderick. My glass display case of all the Green Lantern DC Direct stuff over the years. The batteries are the coolest thing DC has EVER put out.

MichaelNaugleshelfporn

One of my favorite pieces, the covers to Green Lantern #4, 5 & 6 by Ethan Van Sciver! And more toys.

MichaelNaugleshelfporn

Another "Holy Grail" piece ... The Sinesto Corps Special #1 by Van Sciver. Bought it before I even saw the cover. Had no idea it would be a hit! All sorts of toys ... Loved the Hellboy toys ... captured the comic art perfectly!

One of the best nights I've ever had. Darick Robertson took me out to the pubs after Wizard World Chicago, and I sat and had beers the entire evening with the likes of Steve Dillon, Garth Ennis, Axel Alonso, Brian Azzarello and more. After Steve has enough beer, you can't understand what the hell he is saying though that Irish accent!

When I wanted to get engaged, I called up Darick Robertson and asked him if I wrote a story if he could draw it for me! So he did, I gave it to my wife pretending it was some new "comic art" I bought. She read and it and, thank God, said yes! The rest is history!

Oh my God, you guys.
That is incredible and I am speechless.
Nice!

Nice display, indeed. The original artwork pieces mounted with the final cover looks great. You are incredibly fortunate to have snagged the original work for all of those GREEN LANTERN: REBIRTH covers in addition to the Sinestro Corps cover.

Very nice collection. The Darick Robertson-drawn proposal story is priceless.

The proposal art story is a very smart thing you did, better than being on your knee and open the ring box.
Yeah, you need a better organization for your closet, some basic shelves and, maybe a couple comic book spinners.

Fantastic collection. Absolutely fantastic.
And what a way to propose!!

Sweet jesus that is one kickass collection! Well done!

Man, that is the most beautifully presented collection i have ever seen. And that proposal KOOL!
