Straight for the art | The 1982 DC Comics Style Guide
Someone at Comic Art Community has been on a roll lately, uploading a slew of images by José Luis García-López from the 1982 DC Comics Style Guide. I’ve previously run across some of the pages, such as the color guide, but I don’t recall seeing the model sheets for Batman, Batgirl, Robin, Aquaman and Green Arrow. Just look at the Teen Wonder strut!

Awesome find Kevin. Huge fan of Lopez & always wanted a set of these just for the fantastic work that Lopez did. I wonder what the new guides look like since Perez started working with Lopez on them…

It was my pleasure to upload them! I’ve long sought the guide after discovering the images from it were used in so many of the merchandise I owned as a child as part of the Super Power franchise. I learned my friend Russell Burbage had a copy and was willing to scan its pages for me and I decided to share it with those that would also appreciate it. More are on the way, including Wonder Woman and Shazam. Also, I’ve been tracking down images from DC’s calendars and thus far have uploaded images from 1976 (the front and back cover too damaged to share yet) and 1978. I’m following some leads to get images from the 1977 edition.
