Just picked up Nat Turner and The Photographer from the library to read. Looking forward to those.

Just finished reading The Boys vol. 4, Sleeper Season 1, and All-Star Superman vols. 1 & 2. I have to say, that The Boys continues to shock me in both its vulgarity and ability to elicit various emotions associated with the characters and their mission.

Got my hands on one of those BEA “buzz books” – Binky the Space Cat by Ashley Spires. Maybe it was only a buzz book for those who love GOOD all ages comics, I don’t know. What I do know is that it’s a hoot to read. My family shares our house with three crazy cats, each with unique and quirky personalities, so I love it when anyone – cartoonist, author, whoever – gets the cat characterization so perfectly.

I also read Tony Lee’s take on Robin Hood – Outlaw: The Legend of Robin Hood; it’s published by Candlewick Press. I like his take on the character, and how he’s used some of the standard bits of folklore with a bit of a twist and some humor.

For the rest of it, I’ve been indulging myself with the Sookie Stackhouse novels. I read the first three when they were originally published some years ago, then didn’t keep up with them. Thank goodness for my local public library, I’m almost caught up.

I’m currently reading THE NIGHT OWLS on Zuda Comics. I hadn’t heard much of any thing about it before this week (except, I think there was a small print ad in some DC book, maybe?). But, after I heard some of the other Zuda strips has got Harvey nods, I thought I’d check it out – and while I’m not all the way though it yet, I really, really enjoy it.

ANd, since my budget has been a little tight, I’ve been sticking to webcomics like Girls with Slingshots, Octopus Pie, Dog Eat Doug, Hannibal Goes To Rome, and PVP.

Incidentally, how is the service from DCBS? I’ve been thinking about ordering from them…
