Wasn’t it a Superboy Prime punch that reversed the DP deaths, or at least made (some) sense of Byrne’s hard reboot?
Though, as I understand it, Rita still died in ‘continuity’, but was regrown by the Chief from a small piece of her skull.

Loved “Batman: The Cult.” At the time, I wasn’t sure I’d like the idea of Bats being “broken” but I thought it was really done. I’ll have to dig it out and read it again. It sure beat all those times since then that DC has “broken” or taken Bats “off the table” for one reason or another (including now).

People are going to disagree with me (I’m used to it), but that era of Batman is the era I still love the best. I’d guess I’m not alone, given the commercial and critical love Batman Begins and TDK have enjoyed… I’m loving those films far more than anything in the DC’s done with Batman since I came back to reading comics a few years ago.

Nice review. I’m surprised you’re not getting Adventure, as the first ish was quite pleasant. Simple, but pleasant. I, for one, get a kick out of SBP, and I’ll be curious to see the role in the BN issue.

The BN minis seem to have been set to release with the regular series ina 1-3-1-3 fashion. BN #1 and 5, with 2-4 and 6-8 released with minis.

Why was the Kane name originally used in the 50s? Were Kathy and Bette distant relatives to Bruce, or was the name chosen because of Bob?

I must have misread it, but I thought one of the DC Nation pages said there were built in breaks in the Widening Gyre. But after reading your post Tom, maybe it was the two six-issue series that were to be broken up. Four three-issues series? Say it ain’t so!

I think that the Rita and Larry deaths were wiped away by the Byrne Doom Patrol series – never happened. But I may be wrong.

I’m pleased to see the JLA: Year One trade getting reprinted. I used to have the individual issues and always enjoyed it, though I’m a little confused by the timing since most of the story is out-of-continuity now…

I had noticed Power Girl’s absence as well, but saw Jimmy Palmiotti comment on another Board that it was nothing to worry about and I believe that he said it had to due with their finishing up the Supergirl strip in Wednesday Comics.

Woah woah woah. They’re making a “Flash Rebirth”? When did this happen?

It’s weird though, I feel like a small part of me knew about this somehow. *checks long box* Holy crap! I have three issues of it? It’s been so long since the last one came out I must have forgotten about it…you think they’ll ever release the final 3?

One thing that might offset the drop in number of titles a bit is the final issue Flash: Rebirth, assuming it actually ships in November. It’s not on the solicitations because it was originally scheduled for late September, but it’s currently scheduled for November 25.

@Greg: I’m trying to remember which original DPers have actually died. Isn’t it just Rita Farr (in the Codsville explosion) and the Chief (at the end of the Morrison run)? I can never remember how Larry Trainor was brought back.

@Neal: Seems like WG was split into two six-issue miniseries specifically to avoid delays. Maybe that got turned into four three-issue minis?

So do I, but I’d rather have had the Morrison/Ha Authority be completed by, you know, Morrison and Ha. Grant Morrison was such a natural fit for the characters, hinting at a “JLA” level of sophistication, while Gene Ha’s art brought a refreshing change from the over-the-top style that Authority was known for.

I actually am a little surprised about “Batman: The Widening Gyre” being absent from the solicits, as Smith had supposedly turned in completed scripts for the whole thing before it was even solicited, if memory serves. I’ll be interested to find out what happened with it….

Based on how the Black Lanterns specificially sought out Hawkman and Hawkgirl in BN #1, I suspect that the Doom Patrol’s death and rebirth will very much be a plot point…

As someone who missed out on the original GL:Rebirth hardcover the Absolute edition will be finding its way home with me.

Also, I’m glad DC isn’t going all “Civil War” with Blackest Night. Honestly, do we really need a BN crossover with every major title on DC’s publishing slate? No. And I’m glad they seem to have the sense to know that.
