Hey Rodney... I thought the Johnny Cash GN was pretty cool. I enjoyed reading it while listening to Cash's music. Here's a link for anyone's who interested:

http://www.amazon.com/Johnny-Cash-I-See-Darkness/dp/0810984636/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1256779474&sr=1-7

I'm not familiar with the author/artist's other work (mentioned on the page)... I clicked his name, but there didn't appear to be anything else in print, but I thought this book was stunning.

The Dylan book is a different animal entirely, interpretations of selected songs rather than a bio, but I'm hoping I enjoy it just as much. The Amazon page has a list of who's drawing what... Good mix of famous, classic songs with more obscure stuff ("Bind Willie McTell"!). I'm especially interested to see what McKean does with "Desolation Row":

That's true, SKFK... At least the Gaiman HC had other Gaiman/Batman-related material in it. I also exaggerated the price difference a bit, but I still think it was ripoff given that the main story was only a few months, pretty slim, and still easy to find at cover price. As I commented, this Spidey HC is the bigger ripoff though. A single standalone story, then a bunch of unrelated stuff tacked on.

At least "Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader?" hardcover has the excuse of collecting other Batman stories written by Neil Gaiman along with the two-parter. Besides, Neil Gaiman is a much bigger name than a couple of guys from SNL, and the artist lineup is much more interesting: Besides Andy Kubert, it has Mark Buckingham, Bernie Mireault, Matt Wagner and Simon Bisley.

"The Short Halloween" just collects a bunch of random Spider-Man stories, none of which would deserve a hardcover treatment on their own.

Wow... That "Short Halloween" HC has to be even more pathetic than taking the two Batman issues that Neil Gaiman wrote last year, and slapping that into a hardcover for about six times the price of those two issues combined. Unreal.

Anyhow, that Bob Dylan thing looks pretty intriguing... The only name I know is Dave McKean's, but as a huge Dylan fan I'll have to check that out.... Along similar lines I found a graphic novel biography of Johnny Cash in a local bookstore recently. I'd never heard about it prior to that, but it seemed too fun to pass up. I loved it!

"Marvel rolls out a hardcover packaging that recent one-shot by Saturday Night Live cast members Bill Hader and Seth Meyers and artist Kevin Maguire with issues 4-6 of Amazing Spider-Man Family."

Are you kidding? That has to be one of the five most pathetic collections ever slapped together in hardcover binding? That's absolutely weeping awful.
