Back when Viz was publishing Dragonball as a monthly comic they eventually started censoring bits of the series due to similar complaints about Goku's nudity. After "fan outcry" (and several petitions if I recall correctly) led to a reversal of that practice, they started publishing the series with a "13+" age warning on the cover. The series has been published with the T+ rating since, though like Kent mentions, volumes published prior to that point have no rating or warning.

What does this teach us? The actions of four people can turn the heads of a local government establishment. One wonders how many in the opposite direction it would take to turn it the other way.

The Guest DJ Project at KCRW has already hosted Tim Sale and Mark Waid and now Jimmy Gownley. Clearly someone over at KCRW loves comics.

Actually, Dragon Ball is rated T+ while Dragon Ball Z is rated All Ages. As a parent, I know this because I check the ratings before handing it over to my 9 (almost 10) year old. (Actually, while the current printings have the ratings on them, the older ones don't.)

Our county's library system has a huge selection of graphic novels, but they aren't in the kids' area. We have a restriction on my son's library card that prevents him from checking out anything but what is in the children's area. If he wants to check out a graphic novel, he has to go through me. It's what we call parenting, people!

It always surprises me when I hear a complaint about a penis being shown in a comic. Not even in a sexual light, just someone that happened to be naked. I shouldn't be surprised but I am.
