Off-topic: The theme from Cowboy Bebop, marching band-style

During halftime of its homecoming game against the University of Delaware on Saturday, Towson University's marching band took to the field to play something a bit unexpected: Yoko Kanno's Tank! -- the theme from Cowboy Bebop. Seriously!

The camera work is shaky, but the sound quality is good.

That's seven different kinds of awesome. I couldn't even get my podunk high school band to play the imperial march. Little do they know, ALMOST EVERY HIGHSCHOOL AND COLLEGE BAND KNOWS THE IMPERIAL MARCH!...I digress, that band went all out on that song.

Oh, my older son will be so jealous; he played in his high school marching band years ago, when Cowboy Bebop was hugely popular among the anime crowd and SO wanted to play Tank. He's a major Cowboy Bebop and a Yoko Kanno fan.

I'm not impressed, but then again I come from a community with a very strong marching and symphonic band program. Though it's cool that they even chose that as one of their pieces.

Ah, my old Alma Mater!

Joe H... Keep in mind it was 40 degrees out and raining. They couldn't use any of their electronics I've seen them in different conditions and they were 20 times better.

I'm in the marching band, and Jessica is absolutely correct. We couldn't use our electronics, which we do the bass hook, and the voice at the beginning as well, and we mic the soloists. So all in all, it wasn't bad, it actually was a great performance considering the circumstances. Will it be a million times better without weather hazards, oh yes it will be.
