Sean, I just read "Strange Embrace" by David Hine and I think you'd like it. It's atmospheric/creeping horror with psychosexual undercurrents. Hine probably hasn't been as productive a cartoonist as the others on this list, now that he's focusing on writing for the bigger publishers. But "Strange Embrace" is the most disturbing comic I've read since "From Hell.'

MarkAndrew: Flies on the Ceiling, the death squad sequence in Poison River.

Brian: The giant is also a centaur, whereas Jesus, I'm reasonably certain, was not. :) But I still think all available evidence points to "Jesus Christ" referring to the main character rather than standing in for, like, "Holy Shit!" or whatever. All of the titles of Simmons's recent comics--House, Jessica Farm, Batman, In a Land of Magic, Cockbone--have been pretty straightforward after all.

I'm no fan of Simmons' work, but I always took that Mome piece as not depicting Jesus (If I remember correctly, there's no beard on that giant) so much as just utilizing "Jesus Christ" as a title in the sense of an obscenity, a declaration in the face of imminent death.
