Julius, thanks as always for reading!

The footnote probably wasn't as clear as it might have been. I don't mean to offend anyone (including anyone I know) who observes Samhain. I'm not that worried about offending fundamentalist Christians.

Brian, thanks for the suggestions!

Tom, you mihgt enjoy the Phantom Stranger series. I recently picked up both Showcase volumes. They also feature the Wolfman/Kaluta Spawn of Frankenstein feature. That fits your Halloween theme.

I always thought one of the best DC/Marvel unofficial crossovers were the Rutland issues. I haven't read Batman #237, but the JLA 103, Amazing Adventures #16 and Thor #207 make for a fun bit of reading.

Cheers,

I think this might be the worst Grumpy Old Fan column ever with no real discussion of DC's horror comics and just a rambling drive-by of other monster related comics.

And then to basically apologize via footnote for liking Halloween. It doesn't matter if you offend someone or not. You have a right to like and support the holiday of Halloween. It's part of American culture whether homegrown fundamentalists like it or not.
