The Vertigo blog has posted video of the DC Comics imprint's first-ever television commercial, which debuted last night on BBC America. The ad, which spotlights the debut titles from the Vertigo Crime line -- Dark Entries by Ian Rankin and Werther Dell’Edera, and Filthy Rich by Brian Azzarello and Victor Santos -- will air on cable throughout the next month.

That ad really begs the question as to why a crime imprint was launched with a "haunted house story."

This is really fantastic. Great idea. However, I fear that the $20 price point is going to drive many people away from a purchase should they track these down in book stores. I truly want this line to succeed and I wish Vertigo would bring the price down to $12 - $15 to help that happen.
