Currently I'm reading the latest issue of Alter Ego. It was an impulse buy last week. I did not know much about Harvey Comics (had no idea they did horror comics), but now that I'm learning about them, wish I could read some of those horror books. lol.

My favorite comic series right now is the Increbible Hercules. Such a GREAT comic. Just well written, well drawn, really good characters, and just FUN. I have collected three issues of it so far. Need to re-read them. When is that next issue coming out anyway? lol.

Next week I want to read Ultimate Comics: Spiderman (really liking it so far) and Proof #24 (read a preview and liked it).

Not sure what else I will read now. Gotta re-read the Hercules books and

I read High Moon this week (hi, David!) - I really like the whole weird Western type of story, which is why I also like Matt Maxwell's books.

I also read the most recent Little Lulu collection from Dark Horse: Little Lulu: Bawlplayers and Other Stories. More fun stuff, and my 15-year-old son then grabbed it and read it, chuckling all the way through. He has been reading all the Little Lulu collections since Dark Horse started publishing them.

Brigid, I booktalked the Domo manga to 3rd-5th graders in my new lunch time book discussion group, and they all want to read it now! They said it looked like lots of fun.

I also read, and booktalked, Matthew Loux's third Salt Water Taffy volume, The Truth About Dr. True.

FWIW, the intended identity of the Net Prophet (oh, Peter David, you and your punning, heh) was not exactly what I would call "a familiar Marvel character." Unless we stretch the definition of "familiar."

The Byrne FF really is, after close to three decades, still remarkably good. I think what helps it is the maturity. It wasn't a children's comic, certainly; I think older kids could certainly enjoy it, but a lot of elements are still strikingly grown-up and thoughtful at age 31.

Certainly compared with much of what's published nowadays; while there is endless confusion over this here in America, sexual overtones and gratuitous violence don't actually guarantee a genuinely "adult" work.
