Send Us Your (holiday-themed) Shelf Porn!

Rather than be our usual shelf-porny selves this time around, we thought, in the spirit of the season, we'd see if anyone had any special comic-themed holiday decorations they'd like to share. We put a call out and low and behold, we actually got some responses! Well, two responses, actually.

The first is from Publishers Weekly (and The Beat) contributing writer Kate Fitzsimons. The second comes from our own Robot 6 Leader Supreme, JK Parkin. We'll start with Ms. Fitzsimons' offerings, as she's got her tree all nice and spiffied up for the occasion.

Hey, my name is Kate Fitzsimons, and I'm an intern and contributing writer for Publishers Weekly Comics Week Newsletter and Publishers Weekly The Beat. As a writer, I also have an upcoming online graphic novel coming from Viper Comics, as the runner-up in this year's Viper Talent Search contest.

Linked below is a pic of my Tree of Action Figures from last year, featuring Wonder Girl, homemade Iron Duck and Quacktain America, Iron Man, X-Men Movieverse Rogue, Gambit, Ice Man, and mini Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. Also featured, a homemade Star Trek ornament and a toy Babylon 5 White Star ship.

JK here, with some pictures of our Christmas tree. My wife's a big Disney and Peanuts fan, while I'm obviously a comic/genre fan, and over the years we've gathered a collection of ornaments that fall into those categories. Here are a few of our ornaments featuring some friendly faces you may recognize ...

Some of my favorite ornaments are these replica lunchboxes, which I think all came from Hallmark's Keepsake Collection ... that's where most of our pop culture-themed ones came from, though many of the Disney ones were purchased at the parks and as part of an "ornament of the month" club my wife used to be in.

I should point out that the one Disney ornament on the tree that's mine is the Disney School Bus lunchbox; it was the first lunchbox I ever had as a kid. I think I took it to pre-school.

And this is our tree-topper, a Tinkerbell we bought on one of our trips to Walt Disney World. She kinda leans forward most of the time, so she it looks like she's perpetually prepared for a nose dive from the top of the tree.

And this was a new addition this year ... our Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, which they sold at Walgreens this year.

And lastly, a couple of holiday cards I received this year ... the first is from AdHouse Books; that's Afrodisiac, star of their latest graphic novel, on the front. The inside says "Sweet Christmas!" The other is from BOOM! Studios, a play off on their "Mark Waid is ..." ad campaign for Irredeemable and Incorruptible.
