Straight for the WTF?! | Hellboy online slot machine

Three frog men in a row and you win the prize

Three frog men in a row and you win the prize

This is either one of the best or worst licensing ideas I’ve ever seen. I’m tempted to go for the latter. Apparently this is not a hoax, dream or imaginary story, but an actual gambling game you can play at various Vegas casinos. How do you play it?

The Wild symbol of the game is the Hellboy logo, which substitutes for all other symbols except for the Scatter and all Wild wins are doubled. The Scatter symbol is none other than Hellboy’s red, boulderous Right Hand of Doom which pays any across the pay-lines. When the Right Hand of Doom thunders 3, 4 or 5 symbols across all the reels, the “Underworld” multi-level bonus game is triggered. Follow Hellboy as he travels down into the cavernous depths of Hades as he searches for his missing team members, traversing the four levels of the Underworld to reach the Chamber of Fire and retrieve the hidden, holy Relic of Power –kicking some serious monster-butt all the way!

Well that made no sense at all. I wonder if a BPRD game is in the works as well. (link and image via)

Dude, what are you “wtf”ing about? This is a very common thing to have video slot machines featuring popular licensed media properties. Aliens, Men In Black, Star Trek and Star Wars all have had multiple games in physical casinos I’ve been to when I lived in Nevada. So why is it a big deal that there’s an online Hellboy one now? Truth be told, I’d been expecting this since the first Hellboy movie came out. (I’m somewhat surprised SIN CITY hasn’t already made it’s way into existence.)

Maybe it’s an ‘only outside the US’ license, but I’ve seen Hulk and X-Men pokie machines.
And not based on the movies – though that’s probably why they made them – all the images were drawn to look like comics.

Well, I was being a bit tongue in cheek with the “wtf” headline. I’m not that shocked. Still, it does strike me as an odd bit of licensing — I wouldn’t think that the folks who play the slots at Vegas would be into Hellboy. But it’s pretty obvious I’m completely alien to the modern gambling scene.

My favorite memory of Niagara Falls was not the falls itself but seeing an octogenarian grandma intensely playing an Aliens vs. Predator slot machine in the hotel’s casino.

True Louis, HiTman was another hero converted into an online slot game, but check this little bit of cartoony sillyness from weebl or wazzits name http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFBXCQacpXo&feature=player_embedded hahahaha!
