re Animal Man, there's no reason why the beetle would change: its "skeleton' is on the outside, unlike the other animals.

Quibbles:

RE: Marvel Adventures Spider-Man, the cover of Issue 58 . " I love how the spotlights cast the enormous eyes of Spider-Man's mask onto the billboard behind him."

KM- What exactly are you seeing there? That's not happening in the picture at all.

And much as I like the cover to"The Last Days of American Crime" #1, by Greg Tocchini, doesn't it kind of look like the woman has the opposite feet attached to her legs? What is going on there? (She seems to have an arch instep on the outside (?) of her right foot, and the poorly executed detail of the loose wrinkled stocking end and her toes on the left foot just doesn't look right.)

I don't read the comic. Maybe she is supposed to have mutant reverse feet?

Fiona Staples' cover for the finale of the Wildstorm horror pulls out all of the Lovecraftian stops, from the clutching tentacles to the pentagram sparkling in mid-air to, best of all, the reflection of the monster's eye in the pool of blood. As I noted previously, the gun's empty cylinder may be a little suspect, but it helps to underscore the futility of the sheriff's situation.

It's almost like you know it's bad! Why? Why list this when your list covers all of 2009. All of 2009? Really?

I would love to see Jonah Hex get some love on a list like this. The cover to #50 is striking, even more so after reading the story inside

Fun list. And I completely agree with the other posters who have pointed out the great year that Skottie Young has had. My favorite cover of 2009 was the one he did for X-Babies #1.

And if Diamond could get their act together and sort out distribution on 2000ad in the states none of you, I mean none of you would have an excuse for not having read 'Cradlegrave' it was simply magnificent.

Having said that it wasn't the best story in 2000ad this year even. If you don't hunt down the Galaxies Greatest you really are missing out!
