Comic-store owner faces child-pornography charges

An Ontario comic-store owner charged in July with voyeurism now faces additional charges of possessing child pornography.

Domenic Giorgio, owner of A Dragon’s Realm in Maple, Ontario, was arrested in July after he allegedly was caught using a video camera to spy on a woman in the store’s restroom. Police seized DVDs and a computer, and in the subsequent investigation reportedly discovered files containing child pornography.

York Regional Constable Rebecca Boyd told The Caledon Enterprise that the new charges, filed just last week, are only for the possession of child pornography and are unrelated to accusations of videotaping the store’s restroom.

Giorgio, 43, also is charged with two counts of assault in the original incident, which arose after a 21-year-old female customer asked to use the store’s restroom. She was allegedly followed by Giorgio, who entered an adjacent room. The woman’s boyfriend became suspicious, and reportedly discovered a camera on a tri-pod. The couple confronted the retailer, and a minor physical altercation followed.

I don’t see the point in this article other then it being a Trojan horse.

Apparently this article is full of Trojan soldiers waiting for night when we’re drunk and tired after a hard earned victory to slaughter is all. That’s the only possible explanation for this article.

I’m not sure how this is news worthy outside of the city that the accused lives in.

It’s obvious. The guy owned a comic store, so it’s comic-related news. If it gives you the willies, why did you click on the link?

Who said anything about the willies?
As for “why did I click on the link” my first thought was that a comic book store owner was charged for selling a comic that could have been considered obscene or considered child porn, ei… LOST GIRLS.

Throwing “child pornography ” in the article’s headline seems like a cheap way of getting someone to click on it. But I can only blame myself for going after the worm.

I still question the reason for reporting this news. Are we supposed to be outraged by this? Well, of course we are, it’s child pornography.

But are we supposed to be ashamed because the accused is “one of us”? Like this one guy is going to give us all a bad name? Is this supposed to be a guilt-trip thing?

And yes, like “brianhouston” wrote, I thought this was an article about how “one of us” is being trampled on by an ignorant legal system. I had my morally outraged emotions ready to defend the guy, but it turns out that it was a bait-and-switch, and I’m supposed to feel ashamed. Huh.

It was reported because, as you said, it’s news: A direct-market retailer was charged with crimes that allegedly took place in his comic-book store. Whether you’re outraged, nonplussed, completely uninterested or (somewhat inexplicably) “ashamed” — well, that’s up to you.
