Quote of the day | Mark Millar, on something ‘huge’

Mark Millar

Mark Millar

“Remember that big news I had earlier in the week? I think it’s going live later today … Stay tuned. This is huge. Remember I did that movie with Angelina Jolie? That sales-busting Civil War thing? That Kick-Ass flick? That Marvel relaunch with the Ultimate line? That news-stand magazine I’m launching to revamp the UK comic-book scene? Well, this is bigger than ALL of those things. I’ve never been involved with something as big as this.”

– the occasionally hyperbolic writer Mark Millar, teasing a project
that’s expected to be announced “hopefully by sundown” today

Millar’s ego bigger than ALL of those things.

Good lord, but I dislike that man.

Somebody put a leash on that puppy.

Given all the hype, it can only be a Millar-branded Segway.

Is it wrong to hope that he finally realizes that he has done more harm to superheroes than any of the Image founders and this big announcement is that he is going to quit writing comics? That or personally refund everyone who bought Civil War.

You’re all wrong. He’s marrying Bendis.

My guesses:

1) He’s been causing the solar “tsunami” and wants to both apologize to the inhabitants of Earth and also to demand their loyalty.

2) He’s been looking for signs and has realized that we are all living on an acetate of a 1952 MGM musical that has been transported into the locker of a 12th dimensional juvenile geek.

3)……
what Millar…?! ……

….(not Morrison?)…….

……oh!

in which case……

4) some new 6 part comic or a megabucks job on an established franchised movie/title

Having a kid?

“sales-busting Civil War thing”

My God I want to punch this man in the face.

Millar writes MarvelMan

I love the reactions that Millar gets from people. All sorts of lulz. Holy cow this week has been great for lulz too. Gaiman’s victory over McFarlane, Larsen’s response, Millar announces “somthing huge.” Lots of fun reactions.

Is he wearing a Harpo Marx costume in that pic?

I don’t know who this is.

I never read “Civil Wars”
I never read “Kick Ass” (though I did see the movie)
and I’ve never read any of Marvel’s Ultimate line.

So really, I have no idea who this guy is.

He’s the boy who cried wolf.

And here comes another cry.

He’s buried the hatchet with WB/DC and is writing the new Superman movie? That’s the only thing that would matter to me in the least, given how much I enjoyed his run on Superman Adventures, the only reason I’m curious about this statement at all.

Oh my God I HATE SELF PROMOTION SO MUCH WHY CAN’T WRITERS JUST STAY IN THEIR CAVES AND NOT SPEAK TO PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR THINGS UGGGGGGGHHHHH

Caves? Don’t be silly. Writers aren’t allowed in caves.
They mess up the furniture.

It’s almost sundown in NYC. Any word?

He’s now saying the news will go online at midnight Pacific.

@ lom4usa

“Millar writes MarvelMan”

He already announced that one; except for some reason he is calling it “Superior.”

Mark Millar is the most punchable person I know.

Absolutely love Millar. Guy is legendary. The news? he’s either writing Marvelman, he’s finally announced the big name one time oscar nominated director for Nemesis, or this is about his film adaptation of The Chosen & the upcompanying t.v series ” The Search for Jesus”, or the Superman movie

He’s gonna stop making big, empty announcements?!

He’s finally realised he’s a douche!!

CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCOMBO BREAKERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!

Stop all the hate… Mark has one of the most impressive resumes in recent comic book history. I loved Wanted the movie but didn’t care for the comic too much. The other comics I have read by him did not disappoint one bit. Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate War, Kick-Ass, and MK Spider-Man just to name a few. Having said all that… I do have a feeling that this monumental news will not live up to the hype.

For those who may have missed it, the announcement was that Tony Scott will be directing an adaptation of “Nemesis” at Fox.

This is not bigger than the things Mark Millar mentioned in his quote.
