Archie #616

Archie #616

Only in Riverdale would President Barack Obama and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin share a shake at the local soda shop. Above is the cover to December’s Archie #616, which guest stars both politicians in a story about student government campaigns that “spiral out of control at Riverdale High!” It’s Archie vs. Reggie throwing mud at each other in the political arena, as Obama and Palin are pulled into the fray.

This may be the greatest thing in the history of ever.

Bah, more use of Obama (and Palin) to boost comics sales. And isn’t involving them in High School politics a step *down* for both? Also, how can you do this stuff (presumably) without their permission? Yes they are celebrities, but surely they own the copyrights to themselves?

Sijo, public figures lack that kind of legal protection so long as the writer, artist, etc., isn’t acting with malice. It would be hard to argue that Archie Comics is doing anything of the sort. This is stupid, not illegal.

“Campaign-Pain?” Just call it “Cam-Pain!” Has even the art of writing terrible puns completely died?!

Where are the monkeys and bicycles?

Hahahah!

Shipperiffic!
