Send Us Your Shelf Porn!

Welcome once again to Send Us Your Shelf Porn, the column that allows you to show off your shelves. Today’s Shelf Porn comes from Jeff Lemire, who you might know from such comics as Sweet Tooth, the Essex County Trilogy, Superboy and Atom, among others.

If you’d like to share your Shelf Porn with the world — or at least our viewing audience — send your write-up and pictures to jkparkin@yahoo.com.

And now here’s Jeff …

My one of a kind Sweet Tooth Doll made by my wife Lesley-Anne Green

A couple more custom made dolls based on some of my early characters from Lost Dogs and a little known book I did called True North. Also a couple of vintage 7-11 cups featuring Starman and Saturn Girl as well as the Legion Treasury Edition. Twin Peaks and 6 feet Under DVD boxed sets and a story book my 3 year old niece Trixie niece gave me.

A Sweet Tooth quilt made by one of the owners of LA Mood Comics in London Ontario as a gift after I did a signing there last winter.

Some of my custom bound comic editions. These are 9 volumes of Legion of Superhero comics featuring all of Paul Levitz’s run, Giffen’s “5 -year later” epic and DNA’s awesome and underrated run from the early 2000′s.

A few pieces from my collection of original art. these are the covers from my first Atom story by Gary Frank, and the cover to Superboy #1 by Rafael Albequerque. Below it is an amazing double page spread from Desolation Jones by JH Williams III.

By drawing board! You can see that Dave McKeans’s cages is never far away. Also if you look really close you might see art from a secret project I’ve never told anyone about before. Joe Kubert’s Tarzan Treasury is peeking out of the side there as well.

My two guardian angels.

More original art. Night Force by Gene Colan, Scout by Tim Truman, Korgi by Christian Slade, Green Lantern by Joe Staton, Batman by darwyn Cooke, Flash by Carmine Infantino, Hellblazer by Sean Phillips, Batman and Robin by Frank Quitely, Blue Beetle by Mike Norton, Animal Man by Brian Bolland, and Superman by Jeffrey Brown.

Love the one of a kind dolls Jeff.

How did you get the custom bound books?
Is it something you did yourself of is it something you can buy in the states?
I’m from Denmark, so you tell me haha XD

Awesome art you have there Jeff. Love it.

lol – go to http://www.singleboundstudios.com and you can find info on the custom books.

What is the DC jam poster next to Superboy?

As much as I look forward to new comics on Wednesday, I Also look forward to each new shelf porn. I love looking at what everyone is doing with their cool stuff. Thanks for sharing.

The amount of original art you got is awesome!

Great collection!

I THINK that DC Jam poster was something released around or after DC’s 50th anniversary. It has a ton of DC’s characters drawn by diff pros. Rorscach AND the Question are on there!

Wish I could remember what that was from

Love Lemire, and I’m insanely jealous that he has that double page from Desolation Jones.

Isn’t the DC Jam poster the mural they have painted in the DC office? I wandered into the DC office 10 years ago and no one stopped me and I went up to a floor that opened to that picture I think. The whole wall.

Man Jeff’s got a hell of an original art collection. I’m jealous.

Hey Jeff, can your wife make me a Gus doll too?

The DC Jam poster was from the 50th anniversary. There is a reprint of it in the DC Vault, a book that has reproductions of various paper collectibles and comes in a large binder type book.

Awesome Legion Collection. I am impressed. How cool is it that your Co-Feature is in a Legion book written by Paul Levitz?

That DC jam poster was a gatefold originally printed in 1988 or ’89 in the HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE hardcover by grafitti designs. The book came with a mail away coupon for a large size poster version, which is the poster on dispay above. The poster was designed by the late great Dave Stevens, and featured among others, Superman by Curt Swan, Batman by Bob Kane, Wonder Woman by George Perez, and yes, Rorschach by Dave Gibbons.

If the bound Legion uber-nerdiness didn’t seal it the Phantom Stranger and Constantine pic had to:

Jeff Lemire is a cool dude.

Now that’s my kinda shelf porn :)

Great stuff from Jeff. But I must amend one of the above comments. Library Binding is closed. But if you check out the binding blog, you’ll find about a dozen other binders who can do the job.
