Send Us Your Shelf Porn!

If you missed us last week, never fear — Shelf Porn is back this week with some awesome photos.

Today’s Shelf Porn comes from Ken Stacks, who shares his shelves and his memories from the San Diego Comic Con. Although his brother had been suggesting he send in his pictures for awhile, but “it wasn’t until my insurance guy recommended that i archive everything that i bothered to take any pictures,” he said. Which is good advice for anyone with a collection. You can also check out Ken’s Flickr stream if you don’t recognize something in one of the photos.

If you’d like to contribute to Shelf Porn, it’s easy — just send your photos and write-up to jkparkin@yahoo.com. The well is running dry again, so please help us refill it!

Now let’s hear from Ken …

*****

i’ve been collecting for about 27 (!) years now, and have accumulated a great deal of crap. what’s in the photos is just a drop in the bucket.

a lot of the signed material is a result of my trips to the san diego conventions, back in the days before hollywood ruined it.

i’m glad i went when i did… i have fond memories of meeting williamson, pekar, darrow, wagner, stevens, kaluta, schultz, woodring, los bros, clowes, bagge, moebius, so on and so forth. good guys, one and all.

anyhow, thanks for looking!

Probably the classiest Shelf Porn I’ve seen since Neil Gaiman’s incredible personal library.

Beautiful and well presented. Thanks for sharing.

It really does just scratch the surface. Although it’s a pretty good selection of his collection that’s directly comics related. What Ken fails to mention is that he personally framed every piece you see in the pictures, as he is an ace framer/photographer/web designer.

Being his brother, there are a lot of memories attached to these items for me as well. My personal favorites are the blade runner ertl toys and the old school spinner rack. If you notice to the left of the spinner rack you’ll see the framed batman picture. That is a super rare 3-D counter top standy that was made to promote the dark knight returns. Those and a few other items (the complete run of Miracle Man) have sort of ping ponged back & forth between us over the years but I have to say, They do look better in his collection.

And hey, Tuesday was his birthday! So everybody wish mister fancy pants high brow collector a happy birthday!

Easily the best collection (both presentation and content wise) that I’ve seen on Send Us Your Shelf Porn. Really, really classy display and thematic set-up.

I usually understand the porn in shelf porn to be a hyperbole but I think I could probably fap to those shelves.

Are we sure this isn’t a museum? I need to wipe the drool off of my computer. Wow.

Thanks for sharing your great collection. Great stuff and so nicely presented. I hope that some day I will manage to find some of those books. I am particularly jealous of the “The Studio” and the Moebius books among other things.
Great job!

Wow! Very nice — thanks for sharing!

I love the Rocketeer stuff especially. Wondering how I can get my hands on a spinner rack in Ireland. Anyone any ideas?

Best collection of The Rocketeer I ever seen!

As a matter of fact, I do have a metal pin button and the most difficult and sought-after metal pin badge, see picture #7 above, next to beautiful set of planes.

I am the only one of 200 lucky bastards who happen to own a Ultra Deluxe, signed and numbered, leather slip-cased limited edition of Dave Stevens: Brush with Passion. Though I got it almost 2 years ago, I turned a few pages at a time. I dare not finish too soon. Many, many rare and unseen commissioned arts for friends, etc.

I see you have a nice copy of THE Rocketeer Artists Edition. How does it look in black and white?

I have a copy of The Rocketeer: The Complete Deluxe Edition, too. Over-sized and recolored, truly beautiful!

Cheers!

you guys wanna see the best rocketeer collection…check out this guy’s rocketeer collection…he has tons of movie props and rare memorabilia

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!

Classy, mature, distinguished…like Gaiman’s–agree with the first poster…nice.

Such a change from all the super-hero dreck that usually constitutes the Shelf Porn features! The Izzy sketch…Quimby Mouse artwork….Maakies toys…SO much covet-able stuff! Hats off to you, sir!

I’m in LOVE with your Rocketeer collection… absolutely amazing!
