DC Comics promotes Eddie Berganza and Ian Sattler

DC Comics

DC Comics veteran Eddie Berganza has been promoted to executive editor of the DC Universe line, Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras announced this afternoon.

Ian Sattler, who had worked as senior story editor for the past three years, also was promoted to director–editorial, special projects & archival editions.

A 19-year veteran of DC, Berganza most recently was a senior editor and then group editor, overseeing high-profile events like Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis, Blackest Night and the upcoming Flashpoint. He’ll work with Superman Group Editor Matt Idelson and Batman Group Editor Mike Marts.

Dan DiDio had served as senior vice president-executive editor, DC Universe before being promoted in February to co-publisher.

Maybe a lot of gnashing of teeth, but Berganza has a number of really solid relationships with big creators. I haven’t loved many of the series’ he’s put out, but if it means possibly getting Joe Kelly back working at DC, or a long term Gene Ha thing, I’m down!

Berganza has more than earned this promotion with all the work he’s put in at DC. He’s helped GL become DC’s biggest book and has a great relationship with Johns not to mention he’s also responsible for DC being able to pull off massively successfull Blackest Night and get that out on time. DC is on the right track again and he’s one of the guys on top that has helped make that happen so has Sattler so kudos to both men on the promotions.
