Saturday Shelf Porn!
Hello and welcome to Shelf Porn, where, like on Valentine’s Day, love is always in the air … love for pictures of people’s comic stuff, anyway. Today’s Shelf Porn comes from James Parmenter, who shows us pictures of his comic and toy-filled loft.
If you’d like to share the love, we always need more Shelf Porn. Send your write-up and pictures to jkparkin@yahoo.com.
And now let’s head up stairs to James and his loft …
*****
Having checked out the shelf porn blog for a while now, I thought i was time to send in some pictures of my loft. I don’t particularly collect anything specific just things that take my fancy.
I collected Comics as a 13 year old but sold them all when they started gathering dust. It was only when my wife gave me a copy of the Avengers’ Forever Trade one christmas that it opened the flood gates and I started collecting again! (this was about nine years ago.)
I have now stopped collecting single issues as they take up to much space. Trades and hard copies are much nicer. Powers, Invincible, the Walking Dead and anything by the Luna Brothers are favourites of mine
Some of my favourite figures are the Bucky O’Hare figures, the Hawkeye figure and the Mini-mates.
While it not as large as some of the collections featured on shelf porn at least I can get in the room and have space to read!

Really organized nice looking collection! And what a comfy little space to have it all! Especially love the Walking dead Zombie Drawing and Comic Page you have framed. Sweet!

Great room. Looks pretty comfy.
One thing I noticed is that you have two copies of the Heroes – Volume One book, what’s up with that?
Seriously...

Decent collection, I guess…
But seriously, why even bother sending 8.5 and 9.2s of modern comics to CGC?
The case and fee is worth more than the comic!

Wow. What a brilliant use of attic space! Very very nice.
Only thing missing is a comfy leather reading chair (not sure the beanbag does the job, but that’s just me). You get that in there and you win the award for best comic sanctuary, ever!

To Matt Duarte: If you look closely you can see that there are two cover to vol. 1. I think there was an Alex Ross cover and a Jim Lee cover.

Thanks for looking everyone.
@ Matt D: Well spotted with the two Copies of Heroes, I did have a third, people think it is any easy Chrsitmas present give someone who reads comics!
@Seriously… thanks for looking, I don’t ever send any comics to CGC it is a bit of a pain to do over here in the UK. I just pick them up on Ebay every now and again. its not about the grade, I just buy them if I like the artwork.
thanks to my wife as well, but she does have a lot of Handbags so we are equal!

Nice.
If I were you, I would feel safe not to place topless boxes of comics under windows, to keep them away from exposing to harmful sun ray UV and possible rain leak.
But, still nice…

I think this entry wins as both myself and my Dad would be very much at home in here. Me for all the comic book stuff, and my Dad for the cricket memorabilia, the Wisden hardbacks especially.
