Saturday Shelf Porn | More X-Madness

In our last edition of Shelf Porn, Eric Jaskolka shared his massive collection of X-Men merchandise — action figures, jackets, Hot Wheels, cups, statues, toys — this guy has it all. But several folks in the comments section asked about his comics.

“Many have asked to see the comic book collection,” he said over email. “I have attached pictures of the boxes as most people, like myself, keep the comics bagged and board and put away.” He also included more shots of some of his merchandise, including hats, toys and even a Wolverine pizza box. Initially he asked if I could add these to the original post, but hey, we’re talking about the X-Men here — how could I not do a spinoff? If the first post was Uncanny X-Men, consider this one New Mutants or X-Factor.

If you’d like to see your collection here, it’s easy, and it doesn’t even have to be mutant-related. Just send a brief write-up on your collection and some pictures to jkparkin@yahoo.com.

And now take a look at more of Eric’s collection …

once again impressive an dproving a true lover of the x-men to have all that merch including a pizza box . cool shelf porn.

Ok, *now* I’ve seen it all.

I thought I loved the X-Men.

That is totally ridiculous. In a good way.

The blue fuzzy ‘X’ ball cap is the icing on the cake! I hope it wasn’t made from Beast’s fur!

Why does the foam finger have four wolverine claws on it?

WOW! I’m in awe! LOVE the Minimate shelves!

crazy. respect.

I would build a casket so large that I could literally take it all with me.

I don’t think the Wolvie foam hand – which I would wear everyday – has 4 claws, I think he’s lucky enough to have a set, and you’re just seeing the one behind it.

Or secondary mutation. Take your pick.

Wow. I guess the only question I have is what X-Men collectables don’t you own? Is there a “holy grail” of X-Men merchandise that you have always wanted to own but just couldn’t find? Thanks for sharing your collection.

@Pyro – that hat is cool, i’ve only seen two like it, both from the same seller on ebay, i believe it was limited, but not sure how limited. I also have a shiny gold Professor X hat and shiny silver/red/yellow Colossus hat. They are all New Era hats.

@g and @HDO – there are 2 foam claws, each has 3 claws. The front one has sparkles on it and is for the Wolverine Origins video game release, the one behind it does not sparkle and is for the movie release on DVD and Blu ray.

@cub_grylls – the whole miniature section is one of my favories. The minimates are cool, especially when next to those Kubricks. Kinda neat to see the difference in design.

@Marc C – my kids ask me what will happen with all the stuff when I die, I have always told them, they will be going with me.

@funkmasterdre – you know, I can’t think of any holy grail right now. Someday when I have extra $$, I would like to own all the large Bowen and Sideshow statues. I do have a limit, $100 per item, I have gone over on a few items, but mostly I have been patient and been able to obtain 95% of the large items for under $100. I did spend the full amt on only 4 items: the life size Wolverine claw replica (shown in last week’s Saturday Shelf Porn), the X-Force diorama statue and both the X-23/Deathstrike and Psylocke/Spiral statues. I really wish I would have spent the money on the Cyclops/Colossus light up Sentinel when it was only $350, now it’s well over a a grand.
I’m sure there are little things here and there that will appear on ebay for me to purchase. Well yesterday there were 3 x-men trucker hats from 1985, i didn’t win them, they went for $17+ ea, which is more than I was willing to pay. So I just log that as an item to look for and maybe someday i’ll get lucky.

@funkmasterdre – i just thought of one figure I do not have, the Marvel Legends Psylocke Crimson Dawn variant. I believe there were less than 10 made. That would be a holy grail, so i can complete my figure collection. I wouldn’t mind getting the Hot Toys Wolverine figure, then I have a feeling the Tonner Dark Phoenix at this years SDCC will be another.

If they ever decide to open an X-Men Museum, I guess they now know where to go to get stuff for the exhibits.

Okay, I’m going to be serious here, call the Guiness Book of World Records. You have got to convince them to nominate you for “Largest X-Men merchandise collection”.

The Colossus hat…. AWESOME!

Wow….a limit of $100 per item? And you have all those statues? Impressive! How do you find such deals? I’ve always wanted to get into collecting statues, but at the regular prices…..it just gets crazy.

@akachris – or i can just open up my own museum

@Acer – my kids keep telling me that, I just might….

@Neal – i just watch ebay, amazon, google shopping. I realize they are more of a luxury item, so if I find a deal and have some extra allowance, I’ll buy it. The regular prices are high, I understand the art and time it takes to create them, so the price is probably right.
