SDCC ’11 | Ape to release Cut the Rope comic based on game

Following on the success of its Pocket God comic, which was one of the top book apps of 2010, Ape Entertainment is doing another digital comic based on an iOS game: Cut the Rope. Like Pocket God, Cut the Rope will be a standalone app (although Pocket God is also available through iVerse’s Comics+ reader). No talent was announced, but the art here and in the slightly longer preview at Mashable looks more than competent.

I think the statement “No talent was announced” is unintentionally funny.

The panel where the creature jumps out of the box, based on the flow of the page, makes it look like the creature actually begins out of the box and then falls into it.

By the way, those are two separate thoughts in my first comment. I have no idea if the people who made this are talented, and wasn’t trying to say that they aren’t.

Thanks for picking this news item up.

The art team is going to be announced closer to the release of the app in just a few weeks. They are doing amazing work and anyone who has seen anything from Ape knows we strive for excellence always.

This app is going to be great fun!
