SDCC ’11 | Marvel to launch The Fearless in October

The cover of the August Previews catalog gives us an indication of how Marvel will follow up Fear Itself, and what we should expect to emerge from the publisher’s Sunday panel at Comic-Con International.

October will see the debut of The Fearless, “an event that shows readers what’s in store for their favorite characters in the wake of the Fear Itself event. Anyone that enjoyed Fear Itself should be interested in finding out how Captain America, the Avengers, and other characters from all across the Marvel Universe deal with the aftermath.”

Although further details haven’t been publicly released by Marvel or Diamond Comic Distributors, Newsarama reports that the twice-monthly series will be written by Matt Fracion, Cullen Bunn and Chris Yost, and illustrated by Mark Bagley and Paul Pelletier. The website also confirms the October launch of Incredible Hulk, by Jason Aaron and Marc Silvestri.

Stay tuned to Comic Book Resources for more information as details surface from Comic-Con.

Marvel are the masters of taking writers I like and attaching them to projects I couldn’t possibly give a shit about.

I thought Bagley might’ve passed on a project so similar to Trinity – big workload. Hope it pans out somewhat better than DC’s last effort.

Looks like the Worthy hammers are sticking around.

“The website also confirms the October launch of Incredible Hulk, by Jason Aaron and Marc Silvestri.” HA! What’s the over/under on how many issues Silvestri ACTUALLY completes? 3? 4? the man hasn’t really given a crap about ART in years! Come on, I’m taking bets.

@Jamie: He’ll be sharing art-duties with Paul Pelletier tho’. And since this is a BI-weekly, not weekly, series, then he won’t actually be doing any more work than he would normally do on a monthly book.

Ergo, I think that’s why he’s doing it. This won’t be the same kind of crushing toll.

As to whether or not this will be a success… well, time will tell.

Making an event like this twice-monthly is a good idea. Instead of being drawn out over 7 months, it will be done in 3.

I said the hulk would have a #1 come october. Lets just hope they don’t something stupid.

Sigh… another “event”? It seems like Marvel is nothing but non-stop “events.”

Aaron? The gorn, horror, extreme sociopaths and psychopaths everywhere writer? I hope that Hulk isn’t taking a turn for the demonic hate-fueled graphic evisceration front.

It has been hard enough to stomach the degeneration from Len Wein’s genuinely kind-hearted confused child to the current “Conan light” version to start with, but if Hulk is now going to indulge in unrestrained murder-orgies this isn’t even resembling the character that I liked anymore, as all heart has been removed. Oh well, I have lost most interest anyway, so I suppose that it doesn’t matter.

Gee this isn’t like Brightest Day AT ALL

Pathetic.

I hope the Fearless is like a proper EVIL Avengers team.

I don’t think we’ve had the modern Avengers face a team of evildoers for a long time (as opposed to an organisation, themselves or one overpowered individual). A new Masters of Evil but without the corny name.

So, since, I am currently bored and disappointed by Fear Itself, I guess Marvel’s just given me the ok to bypass this series?

Um… not to be in the gutter or anything but what is up with that red skull er… persons leg thing? I think the artists was trying to get away with something.

@Guest: Are you talking about the jodhpurs that Red Skull/Sin is wearing? Those type of pants have weird poofy things around the thighs and seems to be a common clothing item for Nazi-inspired villains.

The Red Skull finally has breasts and a vagina. I can die fulfilled now. Can’t wait for a sexually tense situation with Cap.
