Trailer debuts for DC’s Grifter #1

On the heels of Monday’s Stormwatch teaser, David Macho has unveiled a trailer for Grifter #1, which integrates the Jim Lee-created Wildstorm character into the DC Universe in one of nine titles in “The Edge” group.

Cole Cash is a charming grifter few can resist. And yet he’s about to be branded a serial killer when he begins hunting and exterminating inhuman creatures hidden in human form – creatures only he can see!

Can the biggest sweet talker of all time talk his way out of this one when even his brother thinks he’s gone over the edge?

Written by Nathan Edmondson (Who is Jake Ellis?) and illustrated by CAFU (T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents), Grifter #1 premieres on Sept. 14.

did DC hire a high school student to make these? they’re both very amateurish.

Anybody else find it odd that these aren’t coming from DC’s PR department?

oh my lord stop with these. they are not good marketing tools, and make some books i am interested in look flat and boring art-wise. video movement of static images isnt really enticing to anyone ive ever known…

Wow that was pretty terrible. I’m interested in a LOT of the 52 but honestly this made me even less interested in Grifter (he was already not on my radar to begin with). I love Jim Lee but not this time lol

These are obviously fan made. There is no way DC would put this out.

The art looks solid and I’ve always loved Grifter. Story could be good. I guess I should spew some hate over the video trailer, but I’m more focused on what looks to be what I’ll have in my hands soon. A good comic. Back to the rage.

Grifter. Man, that takes me back.

@price

They’re not fan-made. They’re made by the creators of the books so that they can give the books they’re working on a chance considering that the sure-sells are getting the most attention. Notice the only videos we’ve seen are for books that aren’t guaranteed to sell big numbers at the stands. Even Static isn’t a guarantee in the current market.

And IIRC, the WSU as a whole was failing to set the charts afire.

Naveen,
..to last year?

Can’t say much for the trailer, but I’m a Wildstorm junkie so I’m pretty excited.

Believe me I know. I’m a video producer/editor. I know there’s only so much you can do with a limited number of still images. But come on.. Incredibly wrong music choice…. Wrong pace…. Too long.. wow… This is an Edge title about a merc who can see aliens.. This is NOT John Boorman’s Excalibur… Hell, if you used this music for Demon Knights, or even Batman: Dark Knight, I’d cut you some slack.. But this? This begs alternative rock or, going the other way, Vangelis.

Jack,
if you are a video producer, then you know about what’s public domain and what’s not, correct? then you know those you are mentioning are not free. If you’re willing to fund the use of those, hey, I’ll get them into the video in a second!
Thanks,
D.

None of these WildStorm retreads will go anywhere. They couldn’t make a go of it when they were part of the then indepentant Wildstorm imprint. What makes them think that now that Wildstorm has been swallowed up by DC that now these characters will magically be hits? Just by tweaking the concepts here and there.

@ redvector :

WS got kind of watered down as time went on. I think by having it integrate into the DCU it’s giving the WS properties more exposure and going to raise their profile.
