Landing on its feet in 2012: Image teases something from Brandon Graham

Image Comics sent out a teaser today with the above image and the subject line “Landing on its feet in 2012.” They didn’t share any other details, but I’m pretty certain the art is Brandon Graham, and based on the setting and the cat’s shadow, I suspect this has something to do with King City. Maybe Image is releasing a collection, or, dare I hope, is it a new King City project?

A collection seems more likely; Graham said earlier this year that Tokyopop was looking at possibly releasing a collection of the completed series, and even printing it at the size of the Image issues. But that was before the company imploded. So maybe Image is once again picking up where Tokyopop left fans hanging? It would certainly fit the tagline, “landing on its feet,” considering the book’s publishing history.

Then again, if it’s a new project from Graham, I’d certainly be down for that, too.

Ten bucks says it’s the collection. Which you should totally buy.

Instant buy

It would be cool if it were the collected King City although I’m not certain I can bring myself to buy the first half of the story for a third time. Regardless, this is good comics!

I feel like there wouldn’t normally be this much fanfare if there was just a collection in the works, but that may just be because I really want there to be more King City coming up.

That’s definitely King City related. Without a doubt.

As far as new Brandon Graham projects, isn’t he still supposed to be working on Multiple Warheads?

I am buying three copies, one to touch, one virgin copy and one to have autographed somehow, someway…

I might need two copies, because one is definitely going to get stolen from me

I’m praying for a collection, because I didn’t buy the singles thinking “Oh, well, it’s gonna be released as a paperback, or even possibly a hardcover, so I can wait.”
And I’ve waited.
And waited.
And waited.
But if this is a new series, then this one surly wouldn’t be strangled by TP’s licensing when I came time to collect it. Would it?

Kewl. This series is a pain in the butt to find in back issues.
