Ilias Kyriazis imagines the Avengers 15 years from now

by Ilias Kyriazis

I linked to Ilias Kyriazis’ image of his favorite DC characters earlier this month, and as we wait patiently for the Marvel version he mentioned he’s starting, here’s something to enjoy in the meantime: Kyriazis imagines what the Avengers might look like 15 years from now.

The line-up includes several kids of current and former Avengers, like Luna Maximoff, Valeria Richards and Danielle Cage, all grown up and following in the footsteps of their parents. They’re joined by a few wild cards like Molly Hayes and Quentin Quire. If you head over to his blog, he shares the background of each character and why he chose their respective looks.

I’m not caught up on Marvel lore, but does Tigra really have a son named Willie Nelson? ‘Cause if she does, I like her even more now.

“When she became pregnant via the Skrull pretending to be Hank Pym, she carried the baby to term in two months, producing a single Cat Person son named William.[38] William does not have any traces of Skrull DNA as the Skrull pretending to be Hank Pym imitated him down to a cellular level, thus genetically William is Hank Pym’s son.[48] William ages more quickly than a human baby would.”

Not gonna nit pick the whole no skrull DNA, Kyriazis’s idea for a shapeshifting but cat specific character is too cool.

I’d read this in a heart beat (with the right writer I suppose) – I would love to follow Valeria story. She is one of my favorites in Hickman’s F4 run.

I would totally read this comic. Valeria as Doom is the coolest concept, but it’s pretty great as whole. The only thing that seems hard to buy is Quire embracing “X-Men ideals”… I see him subverting those ideals and repurposing their basic concepts and symbols for his own vision before embracing them. Also maybe I wouldn’t have given Molly a looks that says “group powerhouse” so much (or maybe just not as tall and “busty”?) because while I know she can’t stay young forever,* the disconnect between her appearance and strength would be a cool element to retain in some capacity. All around awesome concepts though, and I wish I could read this right now!

* well, ok, she probably will

Thanks a lot, you guys!
I’m glad you liked it! :D

The fact that Marvel is not currently publishing a next-gen Avengers book with these characters is proof that we do not live in the best of all possible worlds.

what a horrible dystopia – nothing but flats everywhere.
