Ehud Lavski humanizes Atari’s ‘Invader’

It’s impossible to find just a couple of panels from Ehud Lavski’s “The Invader” that fully communicate the emotion and power of the wordless comic. I picked the moment when the protagonist joins the Space Invader army, but that leaves out all of the childhood memories and teen-aged drama that drives him to that decision. And all the hard times and heartache that follow it. It’s a lovely, haunting comic and worth not only the initial sixty seconds it’ll take to read it, but all the time you’ll spend re-reading it as well.

Space Invaders was developed by Taito and published in the US by Midway. The only thing Atari has to do with it is that it was later released for their console.
