Shelf Porn Saturday | A post-Thanksgiving collection to be thankful for
Hello and welcome to Shelf Porn! Today’s collection comes from Daniel Gibson, who shares shelves of action figures, trades, art and more.
If you’d like to see your collection here, drop me an email at jkparkin@yahoo.com with a brief write-up and some jpgs.
And now let’s hear from Daniel …
*****
I love comics obviously. I try to organize them chronologically by character to make them easier to find and loan out. After I read a volume I only keep it if I liked it enough to one day possibly re-read it, otherwise I sell it. I think my collection would become unmanageable in that case!
Most of my wall art was ordered online (except for the custom pieces) and the autographs are from various comicons. I haven’t put up the items from this year’s SDCC yet though. The giant canvases are my most favorite selections to highlight.
Yes I open my figures and don’t keep them behind glass or anything =). They are meant to be played with and inspected from every angle.
For anyone curious about the actual shelving, the cubby is the largest option from Ikea. It was quite a pain to find a thin vertical heavy-duty matching option to house the big books. I ended up getting something else from Ikea and turning it on its end.
It took a long time to find a suitable display method for the IDW AEs — eventually I saw the easels idea from someone here on CBR and I found the right measurements on Amazon.
I want my collection to one day be as clean and classy as some of the other great ones you’ve posted here. I am especially fond of those that upgraded all their TPBs with the hardcover replacements and uniform spines. Jealous!

not really looking at some of his artwork i’d say excluding frames it’d be hundred hundred fifty for all the art on the walls.

I have a lot of that style of shelves, they’re pretty awesome. How do you submit your collection?

That is a very cool looking and dust free collection. That’s also the biggest collection of trades I’ve ever seen. More than some stores. You are obviously and rightfully proud of it all. Thanks for sharing. I’m jelous that you get to SDCC it’s along way from Australia
I hope you continue to keep expanding
All the best Wayne

Get those comics in some storage boxes soon or the spines will roll. If they haven’t already. I always thought the comics were worth more than the trades.

Great collection! I love the shelves. Where did you get them?

@Kevin–I recognized them instantly! I have them too! IKEA. They are a less expensive solution–can divide a room (hardware affixes them to the wall) and you can use them as above. I used them for a while to hold short boxes (the ones with the attached folding lids). Two fit on each shelf and it doesn’t look horrid. Anyway–IKEA.

That’s one massive HC and Tpb collection!! Very nicely organized. Do you only trade wait? I see a few comics sitting on the floor.

thanks everyone!
@xmennut yes i tradewait. i check out single issues like new 52 and marvel now in order to determine which new titles to get trades for, hence the stack waiting to be boxed up. @shawn dont worry they are not worth anything.

Great collection! Thanks for the pics.
Did you have to reinforce those shelves or do they hold up fine with that much on each one?
