Shelf Porn Saturday | Chris in Canada makes his Marvel
Hello and welcome to Shelf Porn, where fans show off their collections. Today’s shelves come from Chris in Canada, a.k.a. hawkeyeps on the CBR forums, who shows us his collection of Marvel statues and busts.
If you have some shelves of comics, action figures or other related collectibles you’d like to show off, I could use some more Shelf Porn — send me a write-up and some jpgs at jkparkin@yahoo.com.
And now let’s hear from Chris …
My name is Chris, I go by hawkeyeps on the boards. I have my own home inspection company in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. These are pictures of my home office. Just got the new Bowen Taskmaster statue and was feeling proud of my collection so I thought I would share.

Are those 3′ Marvel Universe figures all still in the package? That’s a huge stack! And those Alpha Flight busts? Sweet! Not bad for a guy from Calgary. I’m from the capital just up the QEII, so that was hard to say! Just as long as you’re not a Flames/Stamps fan, I’ll say that setup is great!

This is the first of these shelf porn collections I’ve ever thought was cool. Well done!

Lovely collection. A lot of classic Marvel characters, which makes it just up my street, too. Thanks for sharing!

How do you keep the dust off of all of these? Awesome stuff.

Hey everybody, thanks for all the kind words glad you like it as much as I do.
I am a child of the 70s so I love the classic 70s/80s looks. For me the Defenders just drip 70s and the WCA is quintessential 80s.
The Inhumans grew of Lockjaw, I got him first and he’s still one of my favourites.
I also love Alpha Flight because John Byrne was from Calgary and I’m Canadian, Eh?
Dusting is a constant battle with my trusty 360 swiffer, but it is a labour of love.
Thanks again for looking :’)

LOVE the Alpha Flight set!!!
Masters of Evil set is bad ass too. I think that Taskmaster figure is one of Bowen’s best.
I’d love to get into collecting more Bowen statues and busts but still only have a few Spidey’s – Still more about the comics for me but that is a SWEET collection.

And that is why I don’t buy statues. I would end up having to create teams, duos, and other such things such as displayed above. But well done

I like how he themed the shelves. (Alpha Flight Shelf, Villains shelf, Avengers Shelf etc.)

Now that’s a real statue/figure collection. Well done. If only I can afford both comics and figures/statues, the sky is the limit.

Taskmaster looks like it is in smaller (less than one-sixth) scale than Ultron. What gives? Is Bowen Designs scaling down their statutes?

I love it.
Especially how you arranged the Avengers is great . Looks like the just jumped of a big cover or poster.
And is this Force Works??
Like I said. Love it.

Awesome display. But since when can Black Knight be considered pornographic? What exactly does a bust of LockJaw have in common with Jenna Jameson?
The whole shelf “porn” thing is throwing me off a little, lol.

WANT, but my wife would never allow this. I get one shelf for my Marvel Legends/DC Universe figures (I alternate), and that’s it. The things we do for love.

Very nice display – I have a few of those busts myself. And now I find out they’ve done a Moondragon Marvel Legends figure (nice purchase.)
Overall a great room – just do something about those AV/ audio chords (not that I can say much as my room ALWAYS has something like that needing to clean up!!!)
Thanks for sharing

I had to take a look at these a second time. I can imagine these statutes come to life when the lights go out (thinking like Toy Story). You have to admit these really look lifelike. Growing up I only had Mego figures to display and you had to pose them in a way that resembled your favorite scenes. I personally like Vision, Machine Man and Sub Mariner.

@ Jamie- Moonie is a custom I made from a Mystique, I don’t think they’ll ever make her. :’(
@Matt Jeske- My comics are in the bedroom, not much to see there, just lots and lots of boxes. I’ve got a bunch of other stuff but it’s put away in boxes. I can only display so much, I think I’m almost at my limit. I don’t want to turn in to a wierd hoarder guy and it doesn’t look as good if you have too much stuff crammed together.
Thanks again for looking everybody, glad you’re enjoying it :’)

@Mike K- Thanks, that Vision display is an homage to the cover of Avengers #57, “Behold…The Vision”

Chris – that is a great collection…. which serves to show me which busts/statues I DON’T have in my collection… thanks a lot!
On top of the tall bookshelf, the Hawkeye mask/bow thing… what is that? Where did you get it?
Chris
November 5, 2012 at 3:40 pm
@Vince- It is an older Sideshow piece, I got it off ebay a few years ago, it’s #426 of 750. They also have other ones like Caps cowl and shield and Thor’s helmet and hammer. I don’t have those but had to get the Hawkeye one as I’m a Hawkeye nut (obviously).
Thanks for looking :’)
