Happy holidays and welcome to Shelf Porn, our look at the collections of fans around the world. Today Doug Welch shares his collection of action figures, comics and more.
If you’d like to see your collection here–either for the first time or again–send your write-up and some jpg images to jkparkin@yahoo.com.
And now here is Doug …
*****
This is my Fortress of Solitude. I built the full wall shelving unit to house my 10K comics and all my trades and cds and dvds. I have some sketches from some of my favorite artists and pages from a couple of my favorite books. My favorite piece is my spinner rack though. My room is my oasis full of comic, punk rock, and movie goodness.

That’s a really organized space. How long did it take to put together?

Is that comic storage custom? Trying to manage my long boxes has been an issue for a long time. I’d be more apt to reread them with that set-up.

Original art by Sam Kieth! I’m so jealous. That storage space is excellently done.

I did not even know an Atlanta Hawks great Dominique Wilkins action figure existed. Fascinating and diverse collection.

Ya’ll don’t even understand the level my boy Doug is on here. This isn’t just a custom shelving unit, it’s a CUSTOM ROOM. Literally every inch of this space was built from the ground up…god-level man cave/10

That DuckTales game was awesome. Easily the NES game I played the most.

I have been just collecting my stuff over the years but we bought a house a few years ago so I finally had the space to devote to my crazy love of all things comics. It took me a couple months on the weekends to make the wall unit and then a couple more to paint and put in carpet and crown molding and stuff. I wanted a cool place for all my drawer boxes. The drawer boxes are a must have I think if you like to access your back issues regularly. I spend most Sundays down here watching football, folding laundry, playing Heroclix or NES or even just reading some great bronze age comics. Thanks for all the nice comments.

A fantastic room. Long boxes seldom look good and you have managed to pull it off.
Thanks for sharing!
