Colton’s growing collection of manga and more

If it’s Saturday, it must be Shelf Porn. Today’s collection comes from Colton, a 17-year-old with a collection of manga, comics, video games and more.

If you’d like to submit your collection to Shelf Porn, scroll down to the end of the post to find out how. Now let’s hear from Colton …

*****

Hello, my name is Colton. I have been collecting manga for a long time, and within the past few years I have gotten into comics as well. I first started collecting manga when i purchased the first seven volumes of Naruto from a friend when I was in the sixth grade, and I eventually began to stop trading in my video games and movies and focusing more on collecting all the things I liked. That’s what led me to collecting video games, comics, movies, music, and some cards. I began to get serious about collecting around the age of 15 and here I am now 17 with a collection filled with gaps that I am still ever so proud of. I also apologize for the image quality the camera I use is far from the best.

*****

Thanks Colton! If you’d like to see your collection featured here on Robot 6, here’s what you need to do:

1. Take some photos and save them as jpgs.
2. Write a little something about your collection
3. Send them to me in an email.

Some additional tips:

1. Although we don’t have a minimum or maximum limit on photos, usually 10-15 should suffice. They also don’t need to be huge, so if you can shrink them down so they are less than 1000 x 1000, that would be great. You can help make your collection look nice by being sure to focus, use the right lighting, dust your shelves beforehand, etc.
2. You can either write something up that’ll appear at the beginning of the post, or you can describe each item. Be sure to indicate where each image should be placed within your write-up, but don’t embed the images into a Word doc. Just put the file name in brackets where you want the image to appear.
3. When sending images using something like YouSendIt or DropBox, please keep in mind that I may not get to your submission for a month or more, so make sure you don’t delete them or that they won’t expire.
4. Please include your name (just your first name is fine) and location with your write-up.

are those supposed to be emergency cans of Dew in case he runs out?

You got a deal on that Venom comic. I paid full price when it came out.

christianizcool,

I think it’s just like Homer Simpson with his collection of Billy Beer from the 70s.

They elected the wrong Carter.

A whole lot of, “eh.”

Nice collection. Love the Akira wall hanging.

nice collection. epsiclaly the akira wall hangings and the replica of his bike still in its package.

Interesting – if this is your collection at 17, I wish I could see it ten years down the line! Especially the manga, which by then may have taken over the house.

See some Neo Geo games. What titles are they? Can’t tell in the pic. And did you end up getting those on ebay or special Neo Geo sites?

Not much comics, but those Neo Geo boxes are pretty awesome.

all I saw was Fight Club. collection complete.

Simpsons. Very Manga.

YES! Someone else likes the awesome DOOMSDAY movie!

In order to address any questions I made this video to take care of what was asked and what may be asked.

Great collection! Nice!

Where’s your collection Josh? I’d love to come around and and say meh to all the things you like…

Anyway to Colton I have to say Great Collection, we have really similar tastes! You have the whole Hellsing collection so you deserve my respect. I also recommend you get Genshiken, with your tastes I know you’ll love it!

David

I’m actually missing the last two volumes of Hellsing I like to wait for them to present them selves at a fair price and I have yet to purchase the rest. Also I have heard great things about Genshiken but in the past year or so I have fallen behind on my anime watching I will definitely get back into it in time.

nice collection, i see you have the all in one Bone collected edition, love that book! i think you said it best–collect what you like.

el_caifan

Awesome collection, but am I the only one who was shocked that a 17 year old knew what NeoGeo was?

Colton@

Duh! I saw a whole bunch of them and thought you had the entire collection! You should really work on getting those last two volumes, they’re great!
I also recommend you get the Manga instead of just watching the anime when it comes to Genshiken. It’s way way better!

Big Thumbs up for having the Naked Gun movies and Airplane!!!

Matt

Leslie Nielsen has always been one of my all time favorite actors.

David

I usually go for both I like making comparisons when watching/reading the things I like.

Kyle

I’ve always been a King of Fighters and Metal Slug fan I also have had my eyes out for a Sega Naomi, Atomiswave, ST-V, and a few non interchangeable cabinets like Sinistar, Galaga Hydro Thunder and The Simpsons.

el_caifan

I used to read Bone all the time when I was younger and that was the first TPB I ever bought.
